As planned almost 6 years ago!

Honestly this is the unsexy part and its the one that actually matters. Cathode is the expensive, messy, capital heavy piece of a cell, and they just stood up the first large scale plant for it in North America. We really got to keep doing this here.

Amazing the work that is done at this facility! Its come a long way over the past few years!

NICE.

is this chungus optimus?

This is a MASSIVE deal and should be on the news @cnn. But obviously you don’t care.

@ryan4cybertruck Long awaited and definitely scaling vertical integration – excellent job Tesla!! 🙌✨

Great things happening in Austin!

I want to visit this factory so bad

Before Tesla’s Texas cathode facility, most cathode material came from Asia. The material produced goes inside the Tesla Megapacks, and is key to their energy storage system. US grid storage and energy independence secured ✅🏆

HUGE FOR TESLA **AND** THE USA. THIS BREAKS CHINA’S MONOPOLY!

Made in Texas, USA 🇺🇸👍

4680? Thought we dropped that 1 hr charging 10-80 time cell years ago? 🤣

@grok is this bullish or nah?

Real factory video, not a mockup. Those 4680s are what has to show up in Valley Ys and, later, a Cybercab on 91st. Phoenix already has the cars. The cells are the bottleneck.

Amazing 😍

@TeslaBoomerMama @grok tell me about the new type of battery lithium air batteries and if they’ll ever find their way into EV‘s?

Beauty ♥️🔥🔥🔥

Do you have a domestic source for PCAM?

🔥🔥🔥

@BLKMDL3 Congratulations 🎉

Ting's team is doing what MJ did in 1988. Patented lean shoe = patented cathode process. Both look like magic, but it's pure engineering. Austin is now what Houston was for moonwalk. From 0 to first large-scale in North America. That's Terafab-level execution.

So cool that Tesla doesn't just sit on their hands and waiting for things to happen. If you want to form the future you have to get your hands dirty and make it happen!

Would really love to see some of that Octovalve type systems engineering on a company wide level. Would it be possible to co-locate some compute and use the waste heat as a kiln pre-heat? @grok would that be possible and make financial sense?

👍🏻

Very cool!

4680 cells reduce range on the MY by up to 8%. Supposedly they’re going in the Optimus product, Cybertruck, and select MY variants (guessing MYL?). A little perplexed by this.

For context, these facilities cost hundreds of millions of dollars and have been heavily concentrated in Asia for decades due to cumulative advantages in process expertise, precursor supply, capital deployment, and lower costs. Amazing!

Tesla engineering is top notch... ❤️

$TSLA vertical integration is absolutely next level.

Cathode production has been the missing piece of Tesla's in-house battery stack for years — most of the industry still sources that chemistry from CATL or Korean suppliers. Curious what capacity in GWh/year this facility actually unlocks for 4680 output.

Really excited!

to be an operating personnel in this place>>>>😭
