We are probably going to seize Kharg Island, and we should. Kharg is tiny (about 8 square miles, population ~20,000, mostly oil workers), but it's the Iranian regime's economic lifeline: it handles 90% of the country's crude oil exports. Controlling it would let the US: -Let exports flow again... under controlled conditions (for non-Iranian or allied tankers, or to ease global prices without fully rewarding the regime). -Choke Iran's revenue hard... cut off their main cash source, accelerating regime pressure or collapse. -Indirectly squeeze China (Iran's biggest oil buyer, taking a huge chunk of Kharg exports) and disrupt parts of their supply chain/energy security, without direct confrontation.
