We are releasing → today: AI driven embeddable CAD. If you ever enjoyed my OSS projects (zustand, react-spring, r3f, pmndrs), these all came out of CC. 🍻 A small 🇨🇭 team has been working on CAD for so many years, release seemed always out of reach. This is a...

The AI layer is a self contained MCP → CAD in your Claude/Codex. And it is crazy powerful. Here i gave it a shopping list of electronics from AliExpress and asked it to build the housing. It's fully constrained, too. You can do this without any experience in CAD whatsoever.

The CAD itself → is a headless nurbs modeler that runs native or fully embedded as WASM. Supports JS/TS, Python and C++ with the same API. Unlike trad CAD it can drive any product or app requiring parametric model recalc, constrained sketching, STEP.

Try it out if you want. The AI layer: literally all you have to do is show Claude/Astra/... the → site. It installs the MCP and your agent becomes an expert in CAD and every session you start will have the model context locally with you, on your system.

First feedback is in, thanks @StijnDW classcad/[email protected] now shows a viewer inside Claude that reflects the model context. Also makes exporting more intuitive, you would have to ask for it before that. Thanks and keep them coming!

Congrats on the launch, looks really nice! Would love to see it on the CADGenBench benchmark!

i realise now you are making build123d? i was living under a rock. i have the bench running locally now, and it's churning through them. will be interesting how it scores.

@Jern123d Please post an update about the benchmark

I still remember when you mentioned this years ago. Congratulations on the launch my friend. Awesome work 👏👏👏

thanks anderson! it turned out the swiss mind is too perfectionist. we just didn't want to rush it. always we were on the verge of release and then we went "oh no, this isn't perfect". it still isn't perfect - but let's take a risk.

I know hehe but in this world "Perfection is being alive" hehe.

im not natively swiss. only by paper. so my mind works quite different, the opposite actually - release everything bugs or not, image the pain. 😂

The list of things you shipped on the way to shipping this is ridiculous. Congrats.

right. these things began as "hey, maybe this would look cool if it bounced" or "i wish state handling was easier" until we began with the CAD GUI → "maybe react could drive @threejs" i created @pmndrs in order to share all this stuff with everyone. 🙂

Very interesting! I think it's worth mentioning the pricing... Very fair, but I'm sure I wasn't the only one wondering 😁

Congrats on the release! What is a bit unclear to me: where does buerli (your earlier CAD-browser product, right?) end and classcad start or vice versa?

☄︎'s profile picture

is the engine/kernel is a javascript/react CC wrapper, allows you to create CAD apps with pre-made components and hooks (or vanilla JS), write a variant configurator, your own modeler if you wanted is our CAD modeler, you create features, do stuff in the sketcher, export as STEP, like any other CAD system, only that it runs in the browser. it's also open source, you could fork and change anything you want. And the AI layer here can drive and interface with all these, if you wanted.

I see, thanks for the explanation! So to use something made with classcad AI one still needs a classcad-ch license, correct? (at first I didn't realize and are actually separate pages)

☄︎'s profile picture

copy the prompt → "agent, look at and install the mcp" and drop it into claude. let it install it. restart or open new session → "using classcad mcp, make we configurable, parametric sofa table, gimme the STEP" or whatever. 🙂

right now it's all free. WASM will eventually run out, must be renewed. we plan to remain 100% free for non commercial. and fair pricing for commercial up to a level where you get the entire source code including the kernel. but this part is basically: drop us an email.

I see - so maybe pages need updating if right now it's intended to be free at the moment? When I check it says chf100 for usage / chf5000 to embed in a software (was just clicking my way through to understand)

yes, we're on it. currently nobody knows we even exist. let everyone use it. and people can continue to use it for themselves. i build stuff with it personally that i print for instance. the commercial stuff - we need to explain a lot more.

you can claude -p it for sure. that's what i use for benchmarks and e2e.

i have been testing it! multiple feedback * need concurrent (subagent) support * need multipart support * need adjustable params (including text strings!) basically take a look at nurb dot dev nurb is good but has performance issues in my opinion

Does the AI output an editable feature tree that the embedding app can change later?

so u can just ask claude to create cad file using ur engine ?

☄︎'s profile picture

yes. you can try. just copy "agent, look at and install the mcp" into your claude, restart or start new session and ask it to build something with the cc mcp. it made this for me from scratch. i actually printed it and built it out.

website is beautiful and also reads like ai slop that isn't addressing the audience you actually want to address. spend some time on the copy and think about what people actually care about here! I look forward to trying this out.

So zustand and r3f were the side quests all along.

in a way. projects with a lot of heart and passion for me all the way and nonetheless. i feel a little sick remembering the endless nights i spent. react-spring was the worst, fighting race conditions and stagger animation hell. felt relief when @framermotion took over.

@framermotion Those nights show. Our whole farm game sits on r3f and zustand, so thank you for every one of them.

Toll rates for the Gordie Howe International Bridge were announced today, ahead of an expected spring opening for the new crossing between the United States and Canada The standard toll per crossing for small- and medium-sized personal vehicles will be a flat rate of $5.75 USD/$8 CAD, with a discounted flat rate of $4.35 USD/$6 CAD offered through the new “Breakaway” toll discount program. A flat rate will be added for vehicles in this category that are pulling a trailer or have items on the roof, with the same “Breakaway” discount also available (for example, a driver of a small personal vehicle pulling a small trailer would pay either $11.50 USD/$16 CAD if using the standard toll rate or $8.70 USD/$12 CAD if using the “Breakaway” rate) A per-axle charge will apply for large commercial and passenger vehicles at either a standard toll rate of $8.75 USD/$12 CAD per axle or a “Breakaway” rate of $6.90 USD/$9.60 CAD per axle. Additional fees may apply for oversized vehicles The newly-announced rates are lower than current toll rates at the Ambassador Bridge crossing between Detroit and Windsor, where the toll per crossing for autos, buses, and motorcycles is $10 USD/$14 CAD (a $20 USD/$28 CAD toll applies for autos, buses, and motorcycles with a trailer). The toll per crossing at the Ambassador Bridge for commercial vehicles is $15 USD per axle with a valid A-PASS or E-ZPass account, $20 USD per axle with no account, or $135 USD for a bridge escort for wide/oversize loads with widths of 9 feet to 13.6 feet
