BIG MISTAKE! This act of disrespect and humiliation of chaplains by removing their rank insignia is the exact opposite of making the Chaplain Corps Great Again. You have just made every chaplain a Second-Class citizen in uniform!

Amen and thank you Secretary Hegseth. This is my Great Uncle who was a Baptist Pastor first and also the Chaplain for the Veterans administration in Lexington Kentucky for over 35 years. A WWII veteran he has been gone now for 22 years, but he always served the Lord first. Sgt. Hubert W Baker and myself, on a day where my organization honored living WWII Veterans. 25 came in 2003, they have all since gone home to the Lord. Removing rank insignia from chaplain uniforms is the first step in incrementally making them less relevant to the troops. You have just given the Left a huge gift! The secondary and tertiary effects will go like this: 1. "Chaplains aren't respected by SECWAR, otherwise they would wear their legal rank like everyone else E-1 to O-10!" 2. In a few years, "Why are chaplains even here? After all, they're not real officers. If they were real officers, they would be allowed to wear their rank like everyone else!" 3. Congress "Why are we paying for chaplains? They're not real officers. They can't even be trusted to wear rank insignia like every other member of the military."

I cannot think of anything more demoralizing and disrespectful than forcing any commissioned officer, regardless of military operational specialty, to remove his or her lawful rank insignia from his uniform. This will only make chaplains even more sidelined than they already are.

I love the removal of the rank insignia on uniforms, replaced with religious affiliation. It is ingenious, Mister Secretary. It is bar-none the most empathetic, sensitive initiative I have ever seen from military command. Profoundly humanitarian toward our troops. God bless you.
