We built an app called Hatch It enables Karpathy's entire LLM Knowledge Base workflow out of the box, in 2 or 3 clicks, in a single interface. No need to stitch together Obsidian + plugins + markdown files + custom tools + etc. Hatch is an AI workspace where...

We built Hatch months before Karpathy posted about LLM wikis. And IMO wikis aren't even the best uses case for Hatch. e.g. I wake up every day & chat "@ plan my day", and Hatch looks at my projects, my journal, my mission and writes a personal agenda for me (etc)

Maybe in the future! Currently we're optimizing for teams, i.e. you can invite others to your workspace and collaborate with them in real time. Many small teams are using Hatch today. Also… it's lightning fast with offline mode for documents :)

Most of these shine in demos but break down when you need them to work together. Have you found any that actually integrate well, or does switching between 12 tools kill the productivity gains?

Check out my sidebar in the demo video: You can see that I've been using this app rigorously for months and months (at 2:26 in the vid, I even show my personal journal with daily entries spanning 100s of weeks). We (plus other teams) have been stress testing Hatch for months

Check out OpenKB: Open LLM Knowledge Base In addition to Karpathy's design, OpenKB can scale to long PDFs and multi-modality.

In a world of @zocomputer , openclaw and @perplexity_ai computer, doesn’t this just get you like 20% of the way there to building a custom ai computer environment? Just not seeing why I’d use this in tandem with personal ai systems. But open to understanding how you think it fits.

Oops, DMing you was on my todo list. But yes, here's the new product!

Haha. No worries! I'm sure my DM was not the high priority on your todo list with launching a new product. Hatch looks great btw. After just 2 minutes of poking around and taking the onboard tour i can see this being SUPER useful for users (and myself). Price is really good spot too. How is its coding chats?

> i can see this being SUPER useful for users (and myself). Great to hear! Happy to do a live onboarding call at any time to help with stuff (DM) > How is its coding chats? We didn't design it for coding tasks tbh. Claude Code and Codex have that market covered

Hey Channing! Do you need creators to scale your brand organically? Run a creator academy and would love to set you up with some of our best for free. Sent you a DM

Thanks for reaching out but I'm already connected to lots of creators organically :)

love this. there's a parallel approach forming for people who want to stay in their existing editor/agent setup instead of a new app — same karpathy pattern, plain markdown on disk, your MCP client does the writing. built one called meshnote. npx meshnote init ./brain the fact that two of us shipped this in the same week tells you the karpathy post hit a nerve

Channing Allen 的头像
Channing Allen6 个月前

Congratulations on meshnote! But we've been working on Hatch for almost a year. The capabilities outlined by @karpathy are only a subset of the use cases made possible with Hatch :)

Nichovski 🔳 的头像
Nichovski 🔳6 个月前

congrats on the year of work, that shows in the demo. and yeah, hatch and meshnote are clearly aiming at different shapes of this — hatch as a full workspace, meshnote as the thin layer for people who already live in their terminal and editor. different audiences, same karpathy gravity well. good week to be in this category

You don't need to stich together the tools. AI is doing that for you. Critical information such as this should be held locally. And it's easier than ever now. No need for SaaS.

We've actually made a similar format in terminal based of Karpathy's idea of LLM Knowledge Bases. Give it a spin and let me know what you think:

@hawktrader @Karpathy's LLM wiki system requires other tech on top of CC, incl Obsidian as an IDE and tools for search, etc. Hatch includes all of this functionality out of box in a single app, while being accessible to non-technical folks unfamiliar with CLI tools.

Not on Hatch! The AI handles all the organization like a librarian who disappears between rows of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and emerges with the book you requested.

this is the right idea. the karpathy knowledge base workflow is powerful but the setup friction kills adoption. making it 2-3 clicks is the move.

the real product is not “LLM knowledge base.” it’s removing the 14-tool shame stack people quietly duct-taped together after reading Karpathy once. workflow collapse is the feature.

THIS GUY BUILT A BUSINESS SECOND BRAIN WITH CLAUDE CODE + OBSIDIAN IN 3 STEPS Most teams do not need another Notion workspace. They need a place where the company can remember how it works. The video shows a simple setup: 1. Create one empty folder called second brain. 2. Split it into 3 buckets: raw new knowledge wiki 3. Let Claude Code turn messy company material into connected notes. The useful part is the separation. Raw is where your existing stuff goes: SOPs, sales docs, process notes, client delivery checklists, old Loom summaries, onboarding docs. New knowledge is where fresh outside material lands: articles, clips, tactics, examples, market notes. Wiki is the cleaned version: concepts, roles, processes, SOPs, gaps, reusable decisions. That is where Claude Code becomes more useful than a normal chat window. Instead of asking it to remember random context forever, you give it a folder it can read, edit, and reorganize. Then Obsidian becomes the human interface. The Obsidian Web Clipper captures useful pages into the vault. Claude Code ingests them. The wiki gets updated. Then you can ask questions like: “Does my current workflow actually hold up?” That is the real point. Not “AI notes.” A business memory system that can compare what you do today against new information tomorrow. The caveat: this is not magic company intelligence. If your raw docs are vague, outdated, or full of tribal knowledge, Claude will organize weak inputs into cleaner weak outputs. You still need naming rules, review habits, and someone responsible for deleting junk. But the setup is refreshingly practical. Folder first. Clipper second. Claude Code as the maintainer. No giant knowledge base migration. No complex setup. Just a local vault that can slowly turn scattered business memory into something searchable, editable, and actually reusable.
