we just added Apple Pay support in Chrome and non-Safari browsers on Dodo Payments. you can now use Apple Pay on desktop too. it opens a QR popup, you scan it with your iPhone, and pay. no Safari required. most payment providers still haven't shipped this. they're stuck on older Apple Pay versions that only work in Safari. we updated to the latest spec and built the cross-browser flow from scratch. this is live now for all merchants. no integration changes needed.

PrusaSlicer 3 on a phone 🤯 A few days ago we released the PrusaSlicer 3.0 preview. You can finally have multiple printers in one project, alongside other cool features. But the new groundwork underneath is also exciting - opening doors that were long closed. Years ago we did the heavy lifting of rewriting the slicer from Perl to C++ -> That code is now now powers every modern desktop 3D printer out there 💪 This time, we rebuilt a lot of the architecture to make the slicer much more modular and platform-agnostic. Let me show you some of our internal prototypes 🧐 📲 PrusaSlicer on Android. Simplified UI for the small screen, but most of the code is shared with desktop. Tablets are powerful today, slicing right on the device makes sense if we get out of the RAMpocalipse. 🌐 PrusaSlicer in the browser (WebAssembly). It slices locally, meaning your files never leave your machine. Browsers are not kind to memory hungry apps though, so this one might hit a wall. We'll see. To be completely clear: these are internal prototypes, NOT product announcements. Desktop 3.0 comes first. This is just to show you that more may be happening under the hood than what you can see (and that may be not limited to PrusaSlicer). Where do you want to slice?

Disappointed with your ICLR paper being rejected? Ten years ago today, Sergey and I finished training some of the first end-to-end neutral nets for robot control 🤖 We submitted the paper to RSS on January 23, 2015. It was rejected for being "incremental" and "unlikely to have much impact" Our resubmission to NeurIPS was also rejected It now has >4,000 citations (and more importantly, end-to-end training is widely accepted!) It's also cool to think about what's changed and what's the same -- - The network was 92k parameters and trained on ~15 minutes of data - The code was a combination of matlab, caffe, ROS, a custom CUDA kernel for speed, and a low-level 20 Hz controller in C++, all talking to each other. ROS+matlab was as bad as it sounds. - We pre-trained the encoder and did inference off-board on a workstation with a larger GPU. - We were paranoid about varying lighting messing up the network, so we did all the experiments after sunset (so long nights running experiments on the robot past 3 am) Now, we have manipulation policies that are far more dextrous, far more generalizable, and maybe on the cusp of breaking into the real world. :) (the paper:

My heart truly breaks when I see homeless people in Toronto. We are living in a G7 country. I trust a homeless man more than Mark Carney or Olivia Chow. I don’t blame anyone who is affected by the economic crisis in Canada. This is Toronto’s subway line under Olivia Chow. This poor guy was not smelling well. No one even talked to him. I started a friendly conversation and kindly and respectfully offered my help but he rejected it. When we arrived at the last station, he did not leave. He came back because he did not have a place to stay. We have lots of corrupt politicians at all levels of government. With 1% of the SNC-Lavalin or Brookfield scandals, directly related to Trudeau and Carney, we could solve the homelessness issue in Canada. Our subways should be safe, on time, and smell good. Shame on Olivia Chow, the jihadi socialist mayor of Toronto. Olivia Chow must go. She is incompetent. We need a new mayor in Toronto.

Bitching about the Knicks draft is actually stupid and I shouldn’t have to explain but here we go. Stop there: 90% of our roster was passed on through the lottery and through the teens. Tonight, we are going to draft a couple guys that will enter the league with a major chip on their shoulder. Those guys will step into a locker room full of guys who made their way in the NBA, with a chip on their shoulder. On a mission to defend a CHIP that people still finding a way to hate on.
