Been saying this for 20 years. Ever since I got my computer science degree and started working in social media. Lawmakers with zero understanding of technology are being talked with legislating technology and they have no idea what tf they're doing or how anything works

I’ll never forget the hearing where they asked the CEO of Google why his kids weren’t seeing his campaign mailers and then described a scenario that sounded like the kids had them going to the spam folder.

We certainly can't get good laws to protect kids when they have no clue - and could care less - what that actually involves. I have never worked on an issue where there was more policy development with less real knowledge.
