We cannot have new routes for legal migration without first ending illegal migration.

@TimesRadio If we put legal routes in place perhaps the appetite for illegal routes would disappear. Like if you want people to stop stealing food, feed them, don’t starve them and hope they’ll stop.

@TimesRadio This is unrealistic. No country has zero on this. Illegal migration at 40,000 is pretty negligible. Stop the endless focus on this. Focus on a proper immigration strategy - what the UK needs and where we can help out.

@TimesRadio We must think out of the box. We are an aged society. Governments have ignored this. Example: 2021 census - about age; 40.7 years. Average admission age to NHS hospitals 55.0 years. If we had monitored this we could have reduced waiting lists. We need an immigration strategy.
