What no one is talking about is the weekly “shipments” of homeless and drug addicts from Seattle being dumped off in downtown Spokane. They migrate to the parks (high bridge, palisades, riverside, people’s park) and start fires. The area that the two most destructive fires started has had hundreds of arson fires in recent years, and yet Seattle just keeps sending them over. They knew this was happening. They knew what was causing it. They lit the match. How do we hold them accountable?

Spokane is a beautiful city and the Spokane valley is absolutely gorgeous. 30 miles to the east is Coeur d'Alene Idaho and that is beyond beautiful. That area does not deserve to be destroyed by the likes of brain dead liberal wackos.

Thank you for being the ONLY person to call out that forest fires are preventable and environmentalists climate policies are self fulfilling prophecies that create an environment of destruction to trick people into believing destructive policies. Every day there are people trying to start fires now. I grew up here. We never had fires like this until Democrats brought their plague. They are paying degenerates to start fires to push "Climate change". See former Climate Creep Inslee. By the way after he ruined this State he moved to Hayden Idaho.

A Spokane Fire Department official said it out loud on camera: “This fire is exactly what we’ve been talking about for the last four years… a fire on the west side of the river on a wind-driven day that the embers get on the established end of the city and it takes a run.” And that’s exactly what happened. (Video clip below) They knew the exact scenario. For four years they talked about fuel reduction. They said some work had been done. And they admitted there was still “a lot more to go.” That “lot more” never happened at the scale required because of deliberate state policy choices. Democrat majority cut the funding that was supposed to protect us: In 2021, HB 1168 was a bipartisan commitment of $500 million over eight years for forest health treatments, more firefighters, and community protection. Democratic lawmakers later gutted that funding to roughly $60 million in the recent budget‼️Less than half of what was promised. The direct result: fewer acres thinned, fewer firefighters, fewer community grants, and far less capacity to reduce the fuel loads that just burned through Spokane. They restricted and reduced active forest management: Under Lands Commissioner Dave Upthegrove, the Washington Department of Natural Resources actively reduced timber harvest and working-forest management on state trust lands. On his first day in office in January 2025, Upthegrove ordered a six-month pause on timber sales in certain mature & structurally complex forests. That pause stretched longer. Then in August 2025 he directed the conservation of roughly 77,000 acres of older forests, removing them from the working land base. The numbers are clear. DNR timber sales volume crashed to multi-decade lows. Western Washington recorded its lowest first-half fiscal year sales volume in 22 years. Planned harvest volumes were repeatedly cut. Sales were delayed, reduced, or removed entirely. Trust beneficiaries (schools, counties, junior taxing districts, libraries, and fire districts) lost tens of millions of dollars in revenue. DNR’s own management accounts that pay for silviculture, staff, and stewardship came under severe pressure because the timber revenue that funds them dried up. This was not an accident. Upthegrove ran on protecting “legacy” & mature forests instead his bad decisions burned it to the ground. He paused harvests & locked up acreage. The Forest Practices Board advanced stricter rules, including expanded Type Np stream buffers that lock up tens to hundreds of thousands of additional acres of private forest land with wider no-harvest zones. Landowners who wanted to thin & reduce fuels severely restricted. The pattern of bad budgets under Democratic control: The Governor’s office under Bob Ferguson, and the Lands Commissioner’s office under Dave Upthegrove produced a consistent result: prioritize conservation set-asides and regulatory restrictions over active management, thinning, and fuel reduction. Timber industry groups, rural counties, school districts, and foresters warned for years that this approach shrinks the working forest base, starves the revenue that funds forest work, and leaves more dense, overgrown, high-fuel stands on the landscape. Less thinning. Less fuel reduction. Local fire officials spent four years warning that a west-side, wind driven fire could jump the river and run through the city. State policy made the large-scale fuel reduction needed to stop that scenario harder, slower, and underfunded. Now the exact fire they predicted has happened. Hundreds of homes are gone. Tens of thousands evacuated. The conditions that allowed a human-caused fire to explode into disaster were created by years of deliberate bad choices on budgets and forest management. They knew. They talked about it. They still chose the bad policies that let our home burn.

They will need to put emotion aside and fight to get their lives back. I don't know the bureaucracy here as far as permitting. I don't believe it's as terrible as California.

I guess they probably want a smart city there too, right? I've said this before: we have thousands of trained wildland firefighters struggling with drug addiction on the streets of Los Angeles. I believe we should provide them with ibogaine treatment before they leave fire camp so they can continue serving their communities.
