We can't clean up Washington without restoring integrity to the Supreme Court. That's why I believe we should expand the Supreme Court to 13 justices. And then, institute term limits. Because an appointment to the Supreme Court shouldn't mean a lifetime lack of accountability.

Right now, nine Supreme Court justices can shape your rights for decades without ever answering to the American people. That’s not balance. That’s not accountability, and that’s simply too much power for too long. That’s why I’m cosponsoring legislation to establish 18-year term limits for Supreme Court justices, with regular appointments every two years. We need to put an end to strategic retirements, court-packing games, and a system that changes the direction of the country on a single vacancy or lifetime appointment. Term limits don’t weaken the Court. They modernize it by restoring balance, strengthening accountability, and rebuilding public trust. This is how we restore confidence in the Court and strengthen our democracy for the long term.

The lifetime appointment is a relic of a bygone era in our country. My plan would create a system where there are vacancies for each President to fill, instead of these Justices gaming it to benefit their political party. And, in January of 2029, the next President would immediately have two appointments to make, because Justices Alito and Thomas are over 75.

Later in his interview with former Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler, Stewart says "go big or go home" in response to Wikler entertaining the idea of packing the Supreme Court (to save democracy of course), "The U.S. Supreme court is going to keep striking this stuff down until we reform, meaning either expand or put term limits, on the U.S. Supreme Court. We got to do that too."

SUPREME COMEDY In 2005, the Chief Information Commissioner asked the Supreme Court to declare the assets of its judges. The Supreme Court got angry. "We don't listen to orders. We give orders." The Supreme Court appealed to the Delhi High Court against the order of the Chief Information Commissioner. But the Delhi High Court said, "You have to release the information." So the Supreme Court appealed the decision of the Delhi High Court to a 2-judge bench of the Delhi High Court. The 2-judge bench of the Delhi High Court referred the matter back to the Supreme Court, saying this is your matter, you decide. Now the Supreme Court became the judge, jury and executioner in its own case. Cricket bookies would kill to have such a fixed match. A single-judge bench of the Supreme Court took up the matter and said a 3-judge bench should decide the case. The 3-judge bench of the Supreme Court sat on the case for 8 long years and arrived at a verdict - the matter should be looked at by a 5-judge bench of the Supreme Court. Finally in 2019, the 5-judge bench of the Supreme Court gave its verdict. It did not say that Supreme Court judges should declare their assets. It merely said the Supreme Court should release any information it had. So basically if a judge does not declare his assets, then there is nothing to declare. Comedy, yes. Funny, no.
