Claiming “per capita is racist” is just a way to avoid inconvenient numbers. Rates exist for a reason: they let you compare groups of different sizes without being misled by raw totals. If you cannot grasp a basic per-capita calculation, you will systematically misread risk, crime, health, and economic data. In any domain that involves probability — including gambling — that kind of confusion is expensive. Reality does not grade on a curve.
