We changed the phone. We changed the car. We changed almost everything. But the classroom barely changed. Same rows. Same bell. Same rules built for a world that existed a century ago. And somewhere along the way, grades became more important than curiosity, and creativity.

this is controversial. 140 years, but the people, are still humans. and humans need to be educate in proper way, and a classroom is the proper way. if the school create "products" instead of "adults" the problem is who rule the school, not the school itself.

However schools look today, the indoctrination continues.

I love these videos, but schools have changed! They may look similar, but they no longer instill ANY discipline, and almost no one can read.

No, the reason that nothing has changed in the arrangement in the classroom is the same reason nothing has changed in the arrangement of the baseball field: when it works, don't fucking fix it. A blackboard or chalkboard or whiteboard is in the front because the teacher needs to demonstrate things or have pupils do work. There are desks so that pupils and students have something to support their textbooks and note paper to write on. There are rows of desks because every pupil or student needs to see the teacher and the board, and to help the teacher learn each pupil's or student's name. There are also rows so that there is space for everyone to walk down an aisle to take a seat or for the teacher to supervise or monitor people at work. Pupils and students raise their hands to ask questions or get called on because teachers can't read minds and to have them blurting things out or clamoring would be intolerable. Know what's changed? In 1886 pupils and students actually read the assignments before coming to class. While in class they paid attention instead of looking at re-built phones or computers. Teachers actually taught instead of indoctrinating or "flipping" the classroom, whatever that fucking means, or "modelling," whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean. Pupils and students actually did their homework because they all understood that for every hour you spend in the classroom you spend more hours at home studying and reading on your own. When I was eleven I read The Deerslayer. On my own. Because that's what you fucking did when you were a kid and you didn't want to play or it was raining or it was winter or you opened a book and there were these stunning illustrations by N. C. Wyeth and you couldn't wait to steep yourself in the adventure. And you know what? The people sitting at those desks in those rows came able to read, write, and reckon—they had a world of things to think with and a host of things to think about. They spoke clean, strong English until 1980 or so. Only idiots think that "progress" is an invariable good, or that the passage of time requires change in absolutely everything just because time has passed. I'd have expected better from the wolf canny enough to expose the schemes behind women's shaved underarms (still waiting for the exposé of shaved pubis) and "healthy" orange juice.

Don't agree. Grades are important and the students themselves want them. But there could be changed a lot. The size of a class, to begin with.

Okay, I think this creator is starting to ran out of ideas. This is completely false and misleading It's all about efficiency. Unlike in the past, where education was a privilege, now it's for everyone. Teachers are still limited Also, the school give you a start pack, not a plan

This isn’t true. When I went to school, I had textbooks that were probably 2-3 years old. My son’s school provides laptops and his math class uses a VR headset.
