Cheif comes out to greet him at home. Awesome. I miss that world.

Most improbable HR in MLB history. Remember watching it live on Mets Station.

I stayed up for the whole thing!! Woke my grandmother up!! And Fireworks

Carter waving in the outfielders always reminds me of that WKRP episode when they play softball against rival station WPIG and the pitcher tells his outfielders to come in before Mr. Carlson hits the game winning HR.

I was at this game. It was nuts.

My 10 year old self fell in love with baseball that summer and this crazy game was one of the big reasons. Literally showed that anything and everything could happen. Stayed up all night watching it.

@BamaGrad00 I was at that game! No one could believe it!

I believe this was from the 4th of July game that took all night?

Was there that night. 11 year old me and my cousin stuck it out til Atlanta heard the fireworks 😂

I remember watching the first few innings at home, then went out with some friends. Returned home after 4 hours later, turned the TV on, game was on. I genuinely thought it was the late night replay!

No improbable Braves win since was as wild as that one! I couldn’t stay up late enough to finish it. Was floored, the next day.

Second time I watched this today! It’s the lead video in the MLB app article. It’s one of my favorite memories from that era of the Braves and that broadcasting crew. RIP John.

Loved hearing John's call of Rick's impossible only home run, and loved seeing #3 congratulating him in the dugout.

Did you guys even go home after the game? You had to be back out there in a little over 6 hours for the next game with them.

Truth

I stayed up until those wee early hours watching that game...think I woke up the apartment complex when Camp hit the HR.

Absolutely nuts. And a great broadcast team to call it. RIP John Sterling and Ernie Johnson Sr.

Smiles all around, what a memory. R.I.P. Mr. Sterling and Mr. Camp.

How about Charlie Puleo?

Actualy sat in the hoid of a car outside of the stadium hoping to see the fireworks.

I was there that night with my parents and brother. Didn't think that game was going to ever end. We were sitting about half way up on the lower deck behind the dugout. I was 13 at the time.

@CLTPhishChick

Remember watching this at 12:30am here in California. Our little league team lost the championship game on the 4th (we were the Braves)

I watched it live....way past my bedtime!

@clayphillips27 Lenny Dykstra was indignant, Murph!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I remember staying up and watching the whole game Murph! I couldn’t believe it either!! Great game

Great memories!

As a kid, I woke up around 3am, put on the TV, and to my amazement, the game was still on...I thought it was a fever dream...Do you remember the fireworks being blown off at 4am?

“Nails” Dykstra in despair is great, too.

Always love this video. Rick did it like a veteran

The best call of his entire career. No doubt!

Manfred ruined this!!

Watched it,,,,,,loved the old days!

Admittedly I had already turned the game off……
