“We don’t love leaders by example because leaders by example are guys that just do what they’re told to do, do everything their asked but they don’t say things when their teammates aren’t reaching a standard. We need more leaders. Guys that are willing to hold their teammates accountable,”...

Great reminder that you don't have to be a captain to be a leader. Leadership is about action. It's about your behavior, not your title. People follow actions, not intentions.

I disagree to a point. Leadership by example can also be the quiet guy who is the 1st one in the weight room and the last one to leave, always out working everyone, whether physically or mentally. Just because you're vocal doesn't mean you are a good leader.

The coaching staff can do this too if you have a bunch of guys who do their jobs quietly. Player led teams are obviously usually most successful but it’s not the only way to get the job done. Coaches can fill that void too

I 100% agree coach! We aren't doing our team any favors when we don't offer feedback for improvement because we are worried how they will react to the criticism even if it's given respectfully and for their benefit. #courage#leadership

Well said. Leaders by example have the foundation, setting the standard etc. When they can leverage their voice effectively they become great leaders as their words & actions hold weight within & across entire team. Player led teams are tough outs in the arena and life.
