VIDEO: How we used religion to give Tinubu victory – El-Rufai The former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that he and some northern governors used religion as a political tool to give victory to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. Even Peter Obi didn’t win.” He stated that he alongside other northern governors successfully pushed for the emergence of a Yoruba Muslim from the South West as president despite opposition from some quarters El Rufai speaking in Hausa said in part, “Concerning the Presidential government, what Professor Akintola said is true. We the Northern governors agreed that the presidential position should go back to the West. It was a verbal promise but a promise whether written or spoken, God knows. “When we saw some people plotting for presidential position to remain in the North, we disagreed, we are not like that. We said we are Muslims and we have our traditions and we cannot go back on our words. That was the first step. The second step is after we all agreed or they realised that they cannot do anything, we will tackle the issue of tribalism and religion in politics in this country. We agreed that we will support BAT. “When we had that agreement I was not on good terms with him, (Tinubu), we were fighting. But Professor Akintola and their leaders came from Lagos and said this is their thought If power is given to the West since we all agreed that it should be given to them the Yoruba people from the South-West have a problem, their Muslims cannot contest, and win an election. I have just come across this old interview of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. In the video, El-Rufai said that the problem with some Southern Kaduna elites is that they have their own established narrative, and whether it is true or false, they stick to it. and, anyone who says something contrary to that narrative is immediately seen as having taken sides. He went further to say that even amongst them, anyone who is moderate or genuinely promotes peaceful coexistence between the different ethnic and religious groups can easily be considered a sellout. Interestingly, he mentioned that this was one of the issues that allegedly frustrated his former Deputy Governor to the point where he decided he no longer wanted to remain Deputy Governor and instead chose to pursue the Senate. El-Rufai also said something about how previous governments handled crises and influential actors in Southern Kaduna, and how the fact that he couldn’t continue is why they won’t like him. He said there was a culture of appeasement that had existed for years, that whenever there was trouble, violence or killings, some of the same people would eventually be invited by the government to whine and dine, and be given brown envelopes. In his words, this had allegedly been the pattern for about 20 years before his administration came into office, which the video I quoted confirmed. He said when his government came in, they decided that the era of appeasing people simply because they could cause trouble was over. He said nobody who did not encourage peaceful coexistence would have access to him as Governor simply because they represented a particular ethnic or religious interest. He also said his administration was using security agencies to carefully monitor and map those it believed were involved in organising violence, with the intention of gathering enough evidence to eventually prosecute them. He said he would not appease criminals or people who had nothing to offer society except raising the spectre of genocide and crisis in order to attract international attention and donations. Perhaps the most striking part of the interview was his claim that previous governments were allegedly paying some of these individuals what he described as “Peace Money” every month. According to El-Rufai, his administration stopped it, and that was one of the major reasons he was constantly accused of taking sides. Now, you may disagree with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai politically. You may disagree with some of his decisions as Governor. You may even disagree completely with the allegations he made in this video. But this is where the quoted video becomes important. This was not a narrative he suddenly invented today because of his current political battles, the issue of Southern Kaduna leaders organizing killings in Southern Kaduna has been proven in court, and a ruling was gotten from it. And when you put this interview alongside the historical records we have been discussing, including the events surrounding the 1992 crisis, the subsequent prosecution of prominent figures and the decades of ethnic and religious tension that existed before El-Rufai ever became Governor, it reinforces everything he alleged. Kaduna’s religious and ethnic crisis did not start with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. The divisions were already there. The competing narratives were already there. The influential actors were already there. The politics surrounding ethnic and religious violence were already deeply established. El-Rufai simply entered a Kaduna that had already experienced decades of complicated ethnic and religious tensions. So when people today attempt to reduce the entire history of Kaduna’s crises to El-Rufai and his administration, they are either ignoring history or deliberately refusing to acknowledge it. This old video does not mean that El-Rufai was perfect, neither does it mean that his administration should not be criticised where criticism is necessary.

Then we go to the stadiums and everyone says “let this be the last time,” we all hold a minute of silence, and then it happens again—why? We have experienced this many times in recent years. A mother waits at home for her child to return, and he never comes back. A mother loses her child because he simply went to do this. Until when will it be a problem what jersey someone wears, which team someone supports, where someone can walk, and what they are allowed to say? We live in the most beautiful country in the world. All of us have a responsibility, each from our own position, to protect sport. Sport is for these children you see here. It is meant to unite people, to fill stadiums and arenas so that we can all enjoy ourselves. The reality is that one team will win and another will lose. One year someone will be doing well, the next year they may not be. Not everyone can win. But the issue is not victory or defeat—the issue is understanding how long young people will continue to lose their lives in the name of the team they support. I don’t know who needs to intervene. I don’t know what needs to be done. I am not the person responsible. I simply felt that I had to say this because we truly play basketball for the people. We want people in the arenas, we want them full—fans of our team and of the others as well. But it is sad and unfair, and everyone needs to reflect on their responsibilities. How much longer? Umm, No. (Long one here with a transcript and my comments in ( ). Work today so I was a little limited with this stuff. Looking forward to the Davis interview tomorrow!) In 2025, Rep. Eric Burlison spent "almost the entire day" with the White House staff as they negotiated various aspects of the Big Beautiful Bill. While he was there, he requested help with the UFO topic because the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets kept getting blocked and struggled to get access to certain information and locations. So, he asked for a White House-level briefing, "the same briefing the President... If you're taking the request, that's my highest request." (He didn't say if he ever received that briefing.) Burlison: "Furthermore, I would like to be able to have a green light to go visit some of these locations. And the gentleman that I was asking kind of smirked. And I said, 'Is this comical to you? I mean, do you think that I'm not a serious person?'" (I mean, funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? 😀 ) Burlison: "He said, 'No.' he goes. 'I just want to go with you.' And so, it turns out he did. He was able to go with me. He had to follow the proper channels as well. And we visited the first of many sites, hopefully. I'm gonna be cautious in talking about that because I don't want to jeopardize the ability to go to the remaining locations, if you will. I truly think that, for them, this was a test of whether or not this would become a circus for them. And so, I think that I'm just treading cautiously before I release too much information about what I've learned and where I went." (I understand not giving out the location to avoid a "circus" of UFO people trying to visit, but I don't see why he can't tell us what he learned right now. Hopefully, when all the visits are done, he can share the details with us.) James Fox: "Congressman, when you say you went to visit the site, are you implying that the alleged site that could, potentially, be housing non-human technology? Is that kind of what one is alleging here?" Burlison: "Yeah. Or, once did house non-human technology, right? Now, from my insights from Grusch and others, they had...it was pretty obvious that that first site that we were going to did not have active material, but, potentially, could have in the past. So what was important was to see the facilities and the structures, and to try to ascertain for A), first and foremost, did those facilities exist? And then were they designed in such a way that would have been, you know, one could easily see that that could have been utilized for reverse engineering." (Saying that a location/facility could have been utilized for reverse engineering craft not made by humans is not enough to make the waves we need to force the tidal wave of Disclosure. We need for Burlison (or someone else) to be able to visit a facility that has a craft there now, and folks working on it who are willing to speak about their experiences there. I don't see that happening any time soon.) Leslie Kean: "May I ask If the people at the site were cooperative and helpful for you?" Burlison: "Yes." Leslie Kean: "Or were they resistant to having you visit?" Burlison: "No, they were very cooperative. What I kind of interpreted from this is that a lot of what's happening today is that you have things that have happened in the past, and the people today, you know, you're talking about personnel that have changed over many times. And so, a lot of times they're not aware of the history of some of the things that you're talking about because that's not something that they're working on, currently. But they certainly were extremely helpful." (They were either not aware of the history or, they were, and lied about it. Can't rule that out. And the fact that they were helpful/cooperative doesn't really mean much. If you want to avoid unwanted attention, you put your best face on. Or, maybe they really were ignorant and wanted to do their best to help Burlison and the other folks? No way to know.) Burlison: "I had specifically wanted to meet with a particular individual that works at that location, and I actually expected them to turn me down, but was surprised that they actually arranged a meeting in a SCIF with the person that I requested. So, I do think that they're being cooperative." (Hopefully, when all of these locations have been visited, we get to learn this person's name. Full transparency, right?) Burlison: "And now that the President has [posted on Truth Social about UFOs], I think it gives everyone all the way down the line an understanding that this is to be taken seriously and to follow through." (We shall see.) Burlison: "On the way back after the visit, the White House staffer and the other person that had made it happen both said to me that they loved doing this. This was one of the funnest things they've ever done in their job, and that these other future site locations are not at all gonna be a burden to them. If anything, they're excited and looking forward to it." (Are we going to learn who those people are? Transparency? If not, why not? We pay their salaries.) James Fox: "I had a really quick follow-up question, Congressman. If you did find what you're looking for, is there a particular protocol, or what's the directive if you find what you're looking for?" Burlison: "If I find what I'm looking for, I'm gonna be very careful to protect any kind of national-security interest. But at the same time, I've been very clear that it is not the right of this country to withhold basic, fundamental evidence that we may or may not be alone. And so, if we have any kind of evidence of that, we should be telling the world and not holding back. And give as many details as possible, and release...be as transparent as possible without jeopardizing our secrets and national security. Or secrets that pertain...that our national security is dependent upon." (For now, keep the method of propulsion (energy source) secret and away from our adversaries and tell us everything else!) Burlison: "Well, I'm just gonna speculate, okay? If we have a type of technology that we have reverse engineered, that gives us a strategic advantage that our adversaries have not? I think that, for example, letting the world know that we have this craft, here it is, here's a photo of it, but you don't have to tell the world how exactly the...what you've reverse engineered, or how that operates." (Photos aren't going to cut it. If they exist, we need to see these craft (and bodies?) in person, with our own eyes. Put them in the Smithsonian and let us see all of it. And allow independent scientists to do their own analysis so we can verify that it's non-human or anomalous.) Burlison: "In the same way that when the nuclear bomb first was invented and utilized, the world knew, we revealed to the world that we have this capability, but we certainly are not gonna tell people how to make one and the specifics behind that. So, I think that for me, that's how I would answer that question. If you were asking me, 'What would you be willing to protect as far as national security?' That would be the nature of it. "Now, I think if the technology that's derived has nothing to do with changing our threat dynamic with an adversary, and it might benefit society and the world, by all means, let's release it. Let's let the world scientific minds utilize anything that we might have discovered. And so, that's where I personally stand." (But we all that it's not going to be that simple. Most likely (if this is all legit), we'll have craft and bodies, and the tech from the craft can give us an advantage over our adversaries, while at the same time, potentially, be used to change and improve the world and human condition. So what do we do? Keep it secret? Tell the world and take our chances?) Burlison: "I don't know, I couldn't tell you what Hillary meant by that." (EB was referring to the recent interview/deposition about Epstein where Hillary Clinton said that she would release UFO files but they would be "subject to any national security implications" and it should be done so that "no national security information is disclosed." She didn't get specific.) Burlison: "If we have evidence or if we have bodies, we should release that to the world. If we, you know, if what Eric Davis said to me - and now that was not in a hearing in which he had been sworn in, and I'm not saying that he was telling me a falsehood - when he said that there are four alien species - and that kind of went viral - I mean, if we, if we do have evidence of that, I want the world to know. I don't see why that would be of national security interest to withhold that from the world." (Unless, the people who have seen the bodies say something like, "Their skin is something that can be used as armor and we can't allow our adversaries to learn about that. Just trying to think of reasons why the gatekeepers will tell us that information needs to be kept secret.)

Is that kind of what one is alleging here?" Burlison: "Yeah. Or, once did house non-human technology, right? Now, from my insights from Grusch and others, they had...it was pretty obvious that that first site that we were going to did not have active material, but, potentially, could have in the past. So what was important was to see the facilities and the structures, and to try to ascertain for A), first and foremost, did those facilities exist? And the fact that they were helpful/cooperative doesn't really mean much. If you want to avoid unwanted attention, you put your best face on. Or, maybe they really were ignorant and wanted to do their best to help Burlison and the other folks? No way to know.) Burlison: "I had specifically wanted to meet with a particular individual that works at that location, and I actually expected them to turn me down, but was surprised that they actually arranged a meeting in a SCIF with the person that I requested. So, I do think that they're being cooperative." (Hopefully, when all of these locations have been visited, we get to learn this person's name. Full transparency, right?) Burlison: "And now that the President has [posted on Truth Social about UFOs], I think it gives everyone all the way down the line an understanding that this is to be taken seriously and to follow through." (We shall see.) Burlison: "On the way back after the visit, the White House staffer and the other person that had made it happen both said to me that they loved doing this. This was one of the funnest things they've ever done in their job, and that these other future site locations are not at all gonna be a burden to them. If anything, they're excited and looking forward to it." (Are we going to learn who those people are? Transparency? If not, why not? We pay their salaries.) James Fox: "I had a really quick follow-up question, Congressman. If you did find what you're looking for, is there a particular protocol, or what's the directive if you find what you're looking for?" Burlison: "If I find what I'm looking for, I'm gonna be very careful to protect any kind of national-security interest. But at the same time, I've been very clear that it is not the right of this country to withhold basic, fundamental evidence that we may or may not be alone. And so, if we have any kind of evidence of that, we should be telling the world and not holding back. And give as many details as possible, and release...be as transparent as possible without jeopardizing our secrets and national security. Or secrets that pertain...that our national security is dependent upon." (For now, keep the method of propulsion (energy source) secret and away from our adversaries and tell us everything else!) Burlison: "Well, I'm just gonna speculate, okay? If we have a type of technology that we have reverse engineered, that gives us a strategic advantage that our adversaries have not? I think that, for example, letting the world know that we have this craft, here it is, here's a photo of it, but you don't have to tell the world how exactly the...what you've reverse engineered, or how that operates." (Photos aren't going to cut it. If they exist, we need to see these craft (and bodies?) in person, with our own eyes. Put them in the Smithsonian and let us see all of it. And allow independent scientists to do their own analysis so we can verify that it's non-human or anomalous.) Burlison: "In the same way that when the nuclear bomb first was invented and utilized, the world knew, we revealed to the world that we have this capability, but we certainly are not gonna tell people how to make one and the specifics behind that. So, I think that for me, that's how I would answer that question. If you were asking me, 'What would you be willing to protect as far as national security?' That would be the nature of it. "Now, I think if the technology that's derived has nothing to do with changing our threat dynamic with an adversary, and it might benefit society and the world, by all means, let's release it. Let's let the world scientific minds utilize anything that we might have discovered. And so, that's where I personally stand." (But we all that it's not going to be that simple. Most likely (if this is all legit), we'll have craft and bodies, and the tech from the craft can give us an advantage over our adversaries, while at the same time, potentially, be used to change and improve the world and human condition. So what do we do? Keep it secret? Tell the world and take our chances?) Burlison: "I don't know, I couldn't tell you what Hillary meant by that." (EB was referring to the recent interview/deposition about Epstein where Hillary Clinton said that she would release UFO files but they would be "subject to any national security implications" and it should be done so that "no national security information is disclosed." She didn't get specific.) Burlison: "If we have evidence or if we have bodies, we should release that to the world. If we, you know, if what Eric Davis said to me - and now that was not in a hearing in which he had been sworn in, and I'm not saying that he was telling me a falsehood - when he said that there are four alien species - and that kind of went viral - I mean, if we, if we do have evidence of that, I want the world to know. I don't see why that would be of national security interest to withhold that from the world." (Unless, the people who have seen the bodies say something like, "Their skin is something that can be used as armor and we can't allow our adversaries to learn about that. Allow me to break character for a second and not talk about business ideas. I actually had to step out of church to get this thought out of my head. I go to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We used to be called Mormons. And this morning our dear prophet died. This same morning, one of our churches came under attack. There was a gunman situation and a church of ours is still on fire. One viral tweet said “Christianity is under attack.” And I don't know if I agree with that statement, and that's not what this post is about. But the top comment on that post was, “Mormons aren't Christian.” And I just wanted to dispel that myth real quick. I understand why many evangelicals think this. It's because we have differing views of the Godhead. We believe that the Godhead is three distinct personages, and they believe it's one person. But just imagine living your life as a Christian, serving others as Christ would, getting to the pearly gates and hearing, “Oh, sorry, you didn't quite understand those four verses in the New Testament quite right. So, you're not allowed in here.” I just don't believe it works that way. So, fellow Christians all around the world, know that we're all in this together. We're on the same side of the table. We're on the same team. And we need each other. So, if a member of my faith has ever positively impacted you in any way, and then you hear someone say that we're not Christians, please, stand up for us, just like I'll stand up for you. Abraham Lincoln once said, “I do not like that man. I must get to know him better.” So, let's get to know each other a little better, and you'll soon see that we are all Christians. And not only because of what we say, but because of what we do and what we believe.

#SundayMusing - THE POLITICAL STRATEGY OF DEMONISING NASIR EL-RUFAI - by: Dr Uche Diala - Part 1 Many people are sitting down and allowing some vested interests to be gaslighting them against a man, Nasir El-Rufai, whose only sin is to be intelligently and intellectually gifted by God, to be conscious of it and using it without fear, favor or pandering to advance the cause of society including theirs. Some of my brethren from Southern Kaduna, with all due respect and appreciation of their documented long standing issues and dynamics, are buying and swallowing, hook, line and sinker, the narratives from their new found lovers that El-Rufai is demonic and evil, without pondering over their fate over history and time, even long before Nasir El-Rufai appeared on the scene, and placing them side by side to determine factually and objectively, how truly worse or better El-Rufai was for their cause and fate. I do not want to mention some of my APC brethren to whom El-Rufai has suddenly transformed from hero to villain, simply because he told us some hard truths about our party; truths which most of us know and some have equally voiced out. Tragically, some say, not unexpectedly, some of my brethren from the South East, many of whom have never crossed River Niger to the North, have already jumped in the fray and joined in the bandwagon of 'he hates Igbos and Christians' 'El-Rufai is evil', etc., much the same way they did to Buhari, without any sensible proof and without pondering over the motive of those orchestrating and feeding them such narrative. No lesson having been learnt. For a man whose watch word as Minister for FCT was excellence. Or did anyone hear that he favored any particular tribe or religion while he went about restoring the Abuja masterplan as its Minister? I have been in the FCT and I know firsthand. Put your ears to the ground, beyond the hype and the noise and hear stories about today. A man who as Governor of the cosmopolitan Kaduna state engaged Nigerians - Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa, Christian and Muslim and men and women alike, so long as they could add value to his governance of the state. Including many of those joining betrayers and ungrateful elements to castigate him today. I was not one of them, but I can't in good conscience pretend that I did not know. A man who inspite of his limitations as chief security officer of the state on paper, understood that security was paramount to delivering his mandate for the people who elected him and who God temporarily placed him in authority over. He was tough on every part, North and South alike, when need was. For him, criminality was criminality, no matter who orchestrated it. That is not to say that he was a saint or made no mistakes, but he who is a saint among us and of no sin, should cast the first stone. Compare and contrast your own state and state Governor with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s Kaduna state and El-Rufai as a Governor. Unfortunately, the increasing tragedy of our politics today, is that it blurs the lines between common sense and nonsense, truth and lies, friends and frenemies and reality and illusions; making heroes out of villains and vice versa, making many to defend who and what they like and not what is right, and making people to embrace those they should sensibly avoid like a plague and to hate those they should ordinarily love and vice versa.

What do you hope to achieve with President Xi as it relates to Iran?” President Trump: “Well, I have a very good relationship with President Xi. You know, I find it to be a tremendous guy. And we get along well. And you see how we do. We’re doing a lot of business with China and making a lot of money. We’re making a lot of money. It’s different than it used to be. But I’ll be talking about it. That’ll be one subject. But he’s been very nice about this. You know, in all fairness, he gets like 60% of his oil from Hormuz. And he’s been — I think he’s been very respectful. We haven’t been challenged by China. They don’t challenge us, and he wouldn’t do that. I don’t think he’d do that because of me. But I think he’s been very respectful. And we’ve offered, you know, if he wants to send the ships to the United States — I think one of the big things that’s happened is I made a statement. Send your — send your ships to Texas. It’s not that much further. Send your ships to Louisiana. Send your ships to Alaska. Alaska is actually very close to a lot of the Asian countries. People don’t realize it. You know, Japan is back and forth. It’s like it doesn’t seem it, but it’s a very short route, two days shorter than almost any other route. We’re making tremendous big deals with South Korea and with Japan. But I said, send your ships. All of a sudden, I don’t know if you saw the graph today. And this is Space Force, which I created — Space Force has — they just sent out some photos of the ships that are lined up all the way down the ocean like, like, it’s a highway. It looks like the Long Island Expressway for ships, and they’re all heading to Texas. Louisiana. We’ve made up this. And that’s why when I — when I decided that I have to do this for the good of the world, not just the United States, in a way, we would have been in less trouble than a lot of other places. Certainly, the Middle East would have been blown up. There wouldn’t be a Middle East anymore. They would have controlled. They would have taken over the Middle East. Now — now they’re trying to survive, and they won’t be successful unless they make a deal. They don’t make a deal. They won’t be successful. It’ll go very quickly and methodically. Believe me, it’ll be very easy. But we have so many alternatives. It’s amazing. And nobody knew this, you know, because as an example, Japan got 90 percent of their oil — or their — most of their energy, but most of their oil from the Hormuz Strait. South Korea got 43 percent of it, by the way, their ship was shot at. They were not in the cavalcade of ships they had. They decided to go it alone, and their ship got the hell knocked out of it yesterday. But they didn’t shoot the ships that were guarded by us, I’ll tell you that. We knocked down a lot of missiles. So, what happens is that we have a situation where we have total control. As you know, the blockade has been amazing. It’s like a piece of steel. Nobody’s going to challenge the blockade. And I think it’s working out very well. We’re going to see I can say this. Iran wants to make a deal. What I don’t like about Iran is they’ll talk to me with such great respect, and then they’ll go on television, they’ll say, we did not speak to the President. We did not. I just spoke to them. Jelly Roll stood at the Grammy podium and said something that the whole room needed to hear. "First of all. Jesus. I hear you, and I'm listening, Lord. There was a time in my life I was broken. There was a moment in my life that all I had was a father, big beers and a radio. The same inside of me as 6 by 8 foot cells. And I believe that those two things changed my life. I believe that music had the power to change my life and God had the power to change my life." And then he said this: "Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by no music label. Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with him." That last part matters. In a room full of the most politically and culturally divided people in entertainment, he stood up and said plainly that Jesus does not belong to any camp. He belongs to everybody. That is the gospel. That is the truth. And it needed to be said exactly where he said it. Now here is the honest part. We take Jelly Roll at his word. We cheer him on. We do not pile onto a man who is clearly still finding his footing. But we also do not anoint him as the face of a movement before the fruit has had time to grow. Jesus described four kinds of soil in Matthew 13. We do not always know which kind we are looking at right away. What we do know is that we are called to pray for him, not perform a verdict. "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them" (Matthew 7:20). Take him at his word. Give him room to grow. Pray for him hard and consistently. And let God do the rest. Are you praying for Jelly Roll? This is what it looks like when someone uses a platform most believers will never have to say the one thing most people in that room needed to hear. Jelly Roll said Jesus is for everybody. Not for one political party. Not for one music label. Just Jesus. Pray for him. Pray for his family. "Those of you who do get called to jury service, I think you should go. And you never know, you may be trying to help out a brother or sister. And when you go, when they ask you this question -- 'Hey, could you be fair?' Don't say, 'No, I ain't being fair.' Don't say no stupid crap like that. Please don't. Say, 'Yes, I can be fair. I can listen to the evidence,' because most of us can listen to evidence and be fair. Okay. And let's get on these juries, because if we can get on these juries, then you know if one black person get on a jury, it decreases our chances for conviction. Do you know that? It's all kind of studies about that -- about the more black jurors on the jury, the more that we have a chance of being acquitted. Not because black people just want to let go criminality. No, all of us do not agree with criminality. If you a black person in a black neighborhood committing crimes and being horrible, we want you out of there. We don't want you in the black community. Hell no. But if we see a situation like Karmelo Anthony, right?" "All Karmelo said is, 'If you physically touch me, I will defend myself if you do it.' That's basically what he was saying. So 'watch and see what happens' just mean 'I'm going to defend myself.' If a black person was in that jury room and they were saying that -- 'Yeah, he said touch me and watch what happens.' I'm like, 'Don't you got a right to, if you told me, if you put your hands on me I will defend myself? Would you be wrong for saying that to me?' Basically warning me do not put my hands on you. Every person would be right to warn a person: 'Don't touch me. Don't physically accost me. Don't punch me. Don't do nothing to me. Leave me alone.' [He does not explain how this warning justifies the stabbing] And nobody talks about how Austin Metcalf went over there to Karmelo Anthony. Had nothing to do with him. And if Karmelo Anthony was such a problem, why he didn't go get a police officer? That police officer's there. Why didn't you go get a school administrator? They were there. Why didn't he go do that?" "That was racial and we all know it. Any of us who have played these different schools, they got racism in them. We know them."

I said to my Whips then that the best service we could do the Government was to prevent them from doing something stupid, harmful and alienating to voters. I hope that Government Members can see that, because the Opposition cannot change this. People outside say to me, “Can we get this changed?” It is actually up to Labour MPs. They have the majority. Democracy is not about having a majority and doing what one likes. Democracy is about listening and doing what the now Prime Minister told the NFU when he said: “You deserve a Government that listens, that heeds early warnings”. There are one or two warnings about. Listen, change: if the Government change, four years on, no one will remember the U-turn. Whatever civil servants say—they are always very keen to stick with a policy—if it is wrong, stop doing it. And this is wrong. In the minute and 20 seconds I have left, let me say why it is so wrong. We have touched on the various elements, but I am not sure we have pulled it all together. We have a really peculiar group of businesspeople in this country; they are called farmers. They take a return on capital—the millions they have invested in their farms—that is typically less than 1%. There is nobody that I am aware of—no business I was ever involved in—that would remotely consider continuing in an industry that paid less than 1%. These farmers take a pittance and get up at 4 o’clock in the morning for the privilege. They look after the animals and it does not matter if they are ill; they cannot carry their employment rights and go, “I’m not well, I shouldn’t have to go out,” because the cows do not care: they have to go out and look after them, and then they get less than 1% return. Those farmers, the most beneficent public-minded businesspeople in the whole country, then provide excellent food at among the lowest prices in Europe. If ever there were a business that we would not want to go and mess with, it is these—I should not say it, because I will make enemies of them. We must understand how remarkable it is that there is a whole group of businesspeople who take practically nothing from their business, work all the hours God gives, and provide us with some of the finest food in the world at among the lowest prices in Europe. Why would we want to mess with that? Not only do they do that, but they brainwash their children from the earliest age so that they carry on doing it. These people are in indentured service to the nation, providing food while making very little profit. They do it willingly and, in fact, love it: it is their life. To go and mess with them out of some stupid, socialist spite is ridiculous and absurd, and Government Members know that—the hon. Member for North Northumberland certainly does, and he should lead his colleagues to tell the Chancellor to change course, just as we did in 2012 when George Osborne got it wrong.”

Never did I imagine that we would witness such a day of such death and destruction of Jews in our lifetime. And never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying, and cheering on a massacre of Jews. I know I'm not the only one in this room when I say that this was a wake-up call. Here's the thing. However much you try to avoid it before, even if speaking up wasn't really your thing, none of us can ignore the explosion of Jew-hatred around the world anymore. We will confront antisemitism, we will call it out but we will never let it not only defeat us, but define us, because our love is stronger than their hate. October 7th showed us that what happens to Jews anywhere affects Jews everywhere. And this goes both ways. Not only what happens there affects us here, but what happens here affects them there. So here we are in this room together calling for the release of every single one of our hostages. We have to bring them home. With every hostage release we hear new testimonies of the horrors they've been through. Every minute for them is hell. Their lives are in danger and we need them home. We want the hostages and their families to know that we have your back, that we are here for you. And we need them to know that wherever they go in the world where there's a Jewish community, they will always find people who campaigned for them, who love them and who will never let them walk alone. Because this is who we are and this is who we will always be, taking responsibility for each other.
