"We don’t wanna take money to censor, on the platform. I think that would be wrong I think free speech is the bedrock of democracy, and in order for 𝕏 to be the public square of the world, it’s really got to be a free speech platform" - Elon Musk

ELON: WHEN WE LOSE FREE SPEECH, WE LOSE DEMOCRACY "Free speech is the bedrock of democracy, and free speech is what allows atrocities to be called out and for people to be aware of them. That's why the Germans wanted to shut down the press immediately. So, I think we should do everything we can to preserve free speech. And when we lose free speech, I think we lose democracy." Elon Musk on why 𝕏 is crucial for democracy and freedom: “It’s important to the function of democracy. It’s important to the function of the United States as a free country and many other countries, and to help freedom in the world more broadly than the US I think that civilizational risk is decreased the more we can increase the trust of 𝕏 as a public platform”

Elon Musk made it clear: 𝕏 will not censor speech to please advertisers or anyone. If the choice is money or free speech, free speech comes first That’s exactly how it should be And yes, 𝕏 was fined €120 million by the EU - and you know exactly why... retaliation... because 𝕏 gave them no part of control on the platform “We’re going to support free speech rather than agree to be censored for money. That’s the right moral decision”

ELON MUSK: "In order to have a solid bedrock for democracy, we have to have at least one platform that you can count on, that is maximum truth-seeking. The goal with 𝕏 is to be maximum truth-seeking, really allowing voices to be heard. Free speech is only relevant if we allow people that you don't like to say things you don't like, otherwise it loses all meaning."

ELON MUSK: Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy > My timing is amazing. I bought it for at least twice as much as it should have been bought for. But some things are priceless > Compared to ensuring the strength of democracy, and free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy > The speech needs to be as transparent and truthful as possible > We've got a huge push on X to be as truthful as possible. We've got this Community Notes feature which is great > I'm sure everyone would not be pleased with it > At the end of the day, you know, if the public is happy with it, that's what matters > The public will speak with their actions. If they find Twitter to be useful, they will use it more... If they find it to be the best source of truth, I think they will use it

.Elon Musk Takes Aim at Advertisers for Undermining and Corrupting Democracy “We have ... seen roughly half of our advertising disappear overnight simply because we insist on free speech,” shared Elon Musk. “I think the public does not realize the magnitude of the pressure, extreme financial pressure, that is placed upon organizations to toe the line by advertisers,” he continued. “And I think this is a fundamental corruption of democracy, and the public should be absolutely outraged by this. And something’s got to be done about it. It’s insane. They’re literally trying to drive Twitter bankrupt.”

ELON: “I'LL SAY WHAT I WANT TO SAY – EVEN IF IT COSTS MONEY” “It is important to have a global free speech platform where people from a wide range of opinions can voice their views. We're gonna support free speech, rather than agree to be censored for money. Offer me money. Offer me power. I don't care. I'll say what I wanna say. And if the consequence of that is losing money, so be it.” Source: Elon Musk

Butler, PA—Elon Musk at Donald J. Trump rally: “Free speech is the bedrock of democracy. If people don’t know the truth, if you don’t know what’s going on, how can you make an informed vote? You must have free speech in order to to have a democracy—that’s why it’s the first amendment! …and the second amendment is there to ensure that we have the first amendment!”

.Elon Musk: "It's bizarre that we've come to this point where free speech used to be a liberal value. And yet we see from the 'left' a desire to censor. That seems crazy. I think we should be extremely concerned about anything that undermines the First Amendment... We must protect free speech, and free speech is only relevant when it's someone you don't like saying something you don't like because, obviously, free speech that you like is easy. The thing about censorship is that for those who would advocate it, just remember at some point that will be turned on you."
