She can’t be that good of a nurse if she doesn’t understand how dementia actually works. Dementia patients aren’t easy to control or manipulate. They have good days and bad days, moments of clarity and moments of confusion. Most of the time they aren’t violent at all — but if someone touches them or overwhelms them when they’re completely confused, they can react out of fear. That’s not calculated behavior; it’s confusion and self-protection. Telling a dementia patient that ICE agents are going to invade their home wouldn’t have the effect people think it would — they likely wouldn’t fully comprehend it or process it the way a healthy person would. So in turn, telling a patient with dementia that an ICE agent is entering their home and invading them would most likely not cause them to become violent. They probably wouldn’t even comprehend what that means.

As an RN…I can honestly say… she’s being completely ridiculous! 🙄ICE isn’t arresting the elderly on ventilators! I am however, concerned about YOU.. treating critically ill patients with this kind of mentality! Are patients safe from YOU?!

This btch is typical of the nurses you find, especially this generation. Lazy. Not dedicated to the profession, at ALL, and absolutely NO work ethic. Horrible patient care, borderline neglect. And don't get me started on those that REFUSED to work COVID units during the pandemic. All while the hospitals flew banners about nurses being "Heroes". They'll call in sick on weekends, holidays, and paydays. No thought to how it affects their team or their patients' care. Of course there are exceptions, many exceptions that are rock star, dedicated nursing professionals, but this is a typical nurse now.
