We held a friendly discussion with Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, in Munich. We agreed that both Hungary and Poland must do everything possible to help achieve a Russian–Ukrainian peace agreement as soon as possible. We agreed that, immediately following the change of government, we will rebuild political, economic, and cultural relations between Hungary and Poland, and give new momentum to cooperation among the Visegrád Four countries. We also agreed that the protection of Europe’s external borders must be further strengthened. Both of us support improving Europe’s competitiveness and strengthening transatlantic relations. Following the elimination of corruption in our country, Poland will support the release of 8,000 billion forints in EU funds to which Hungary is entitled. I emphasized to the Polish Prime Minister that neither the TISZA party nor the majority of Hungarians supports Ukraine's accelerated EU accession. At the end of the meeting, I invited Donald Tusk to Budapest for the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution, and we agreed that my first foreign trip after the swearing-in of the TISZA government will be to Warsaw. Strengthening sanctions against Russia and Austria’s readiness to act as a mediator were the key topics of my meeting with Federal Chancellor of Austria Christian Stocker. We are grateful to Austria for its support since the very beginning of Russian aggression, for its humanitarian assistance, and above all, for supporting our citizens. We appreciate the mediation in the return of young Ukrainians who were abducted by Russia. Today, we also discussed economic cooperation between our countries, increasing investment, and involving Austrian companies in Ukraine’s post‑war recovery. Our main focus was on protecting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and the safety of our children, as well as increasing domestic defense production. This is what really helps, and we already have concrete results on the battlefield. We also paid special attention to the importance of consolidating international efforts to achieve a just peace. As we approach the start of the new year, we really need unity between the United States, the EU, and European countries. Only together can the United States and Europe truly stop Putin and save Ukraine. I am sincerely grateful for all the support for our country and people.

Germany's Chancellor Merz: Emmanuel Macron will not be able to be the next President of France, but I assume that whoever succeeds him will also be guided by what is right and necessary for the interests of our countries. From Germany's perspective, I can only say this: we will continue to do everything we can to make our cooperation with our French neighbor as close, as deep, and as trusting as possible—regardless of how the French people vote. That applies both to the Élysée Palace and to the National Assembly. This day brought a very positive result of our international work. Chancellor Olaf Scholz and I agreed today that Germany will provide Ukraine with an additional Patriot system. We are also working with Germany on an additional IRIS-T, another powerful air defense system, as well as missiles for our existing systems. German leadership is tangible, and thanks to it, we will be able to save thousands of lives and provide Ukraine with a stronger defense against Russian terror. We will continue to work with all partners who can help in the same way. This week alone, I met with the presidents of Lithuania, Czechia, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland, and Latvia. Important international meetings took place today. The new Prime Minister of Estonia, Kristen Michal, made his first visit to Ukraine. We are grateful to Estonia for all its support and to all the Baltic states. One of the key topics discussed was brigade training. Ukraine is thankful to France and President Macron for preparing one brigade, and we are now discussing with the French side the preparation of a second brigade. Additionally, in Europe—specifically in Germany—the American side is currently training a Ukrainian brigade. We also held talks with the Nordics and the Baltic states about the possibility of them jointly preparing another brigade. This would be a very tangible contribution to Europe’s defense. We also welcomed Friedrich Merz, the leader of the German opposition, to Ukraine. I appreciate his position—one that is truthful and fair: it is neither just nor effective for Ukraine to fight with one hand tied behind its back. We need Taurus missiles, as well as other long-range weapons, to strike necessary military targets in Russia. This is how we can end the war as quickly as possible. Yesterday, together with all our partners, and today in a bilateral format, we discussed expectations for the meeting in Alaska and possible prospects. We also discussed in considerable detail the security guarantees that can make peace truly durable if the United States succeeds in pressing Russia to stop the killings and engage in genuine, substantive diplomacy. It is important that, within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing, we should all be able to achieve effective formats for security cooperation. We also discussed the continuation of support programs for our army and our defense industry. Under any scenario, Ukraine will maintain its strength. Keir and I also talked about such mechanisms for weapons supplies as the PURL program, and I urged the UK to join. Of course, we also discussed our One Hundred Year Partnership Agreement. Ukraine is preparing to ratify it in August, and as a result, we will be able to hold an expanded Ukraine–UK meeting. A separate and important item on the agenda was investment in our drone production. We have significant potential to increase production volumes and urgently need financing for this.
