“i want you to understand that music is a universal language, and it’s the only language that connects every human being no matter where you’re from, black, white, purple, blue? music is the language we all understand. genres is something that’s created to put us all in a bracket. big up Reggae music because it influences us all, Africa is where i’m from and Africa influences Reggae music also.” — Burna Boy addressing critics about him headlining the Reggae Land Festival in the UK as an African artist. 🗣️

So honored to do a Tiny Desk Concert with NPR Music and bring back music from the very beginning of my career! “Pray,” is a reminder to lean into prayer in every situation, even when it doesn’t make sense. Be encouraged today… check out my Tiny Desk now on NPR Music’s YouTube!

"Lover Girl" live from Iceland 🤍 I returned to my childhood music school to record a live album, and it was pure magic. Excited to share that my Songline album with Amazon Music arrives this Friday, September 26th!

Happy weekend to all my followers and digital friends, add this song to your playlist. It is proof that you do not need to understand a language to enjoy music, music is a language of the soul on its own. It is one of the greatest African songs ever made, and it is from Malawi. The song is called “Linny Hoo” and was done by Giddes Chalamanda featuring Namadingo. Giddes Chalamanda is a legendary Malawian musician known for his acoustic folk style and for performing with a banjo. The collaboration with Namadingo revived the song and made it popular across Africa. He was 90 years old in 2020 when this video was made, an amazing legend. Enjoy and have fun over the weekend🎼

GQ ASKS T.O.P Q. What prompted you to return to music at this time? TOP: I’ve always thought I’d share an album with you once it met my own standards. Now that the time has come, I'm stepping forward to confidently share it with all of you Q. While away from the spotlight, what else did you do besides making music? TOP: You mentioned that it's been quite a while, but for me it's been nearly 10 years. I've spent most of my time creating music to the point that I hardly did anything else. While creating music, I also went through self-reflection and re-evaluation again. At this stage of my life, for a musician like T.O.P, what kind of music should I be making? I spent a lot of time searching for that answer. I believe this time was spent meaningfully. #TOP #TTTOP #최승현 #탑 #AnotherDimension

So much of what we love about Christmas music and movies is bound up with nostalgia, and my favourite album of all time is actually a Christmas album from my childhood.

My seventh studio album, They Call Us The Lucky Ones, is out now. Making this record with Wes Watson felt like a throwback to the early days. Loose, live, and gritty, with a bit of soul, where the imperfections from the moment are left in. Excited to finally share this one.
