This week I sat down with Kevin Soine, Assistant Baseball Coach and Athletic Operations Coordinator at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. I had a chance to visit South Mountain recently and came away extremely impressed, especially with the coaching staff's focus on player development. COACHING HARD A lot of comments on recent videos asked what it means to coach players hard. I think the initial reaction to that we think of a Coach screaming and yelling. I don’t really consider that ‘Coaching Hard’. Coaching hard to me means you are fully invested in the player, want them to succeed, have had conversations with them about it, laid out the standards and expectations for them, then YOU HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE TO THAT. The coaching hard part takes different shapes and forms, it’s not always yelling… but the accountability and care has to be strict, that’s what makes it seem hard to the player
