We have an agricultural policy - created by the Conservatives and maintained by Labour - to disincentivise food production. Not only will this will massively hamper our ability to feed ourselves, but it will also result in us having less farmers to deliver environmental goods.

We learnt the hard way that we imported too much of our food during two World Wars. We appear to have forgotten that lesson

Among the biggest threats to farmers is the pricing structure cartel operated by buyers, aka supermarkets, and the use of land for biofuels.

Ag Act 2020 was already out of date before it came in. In a growing chaotic world with extended supply chains the UK needs a policy tht actually focuses on the food system as well as environment. It also needs an agricultural strategy to support the industry

Lost my respect for you! First you support racist zionist genocide in Gaza. Now you support climate genocide & destruction of last scraps of nature. Fell sheep are environmental Armageddon. Nuts 2subsidise sheep farmers to trash Britain, instead of funding them to repair her.

Tim FFS.. NO CLIMATE = NO FARMERS NO NATURE = NO FARMERS Using taxpayers money to fund sheep to destroy both is criminal. Shame on you. Wasting precious land on climate/nature trashing inefficient sheep is genocidal. @GeorgeMonbiot

The best incentive to produce food, or anything else, is having customers who wish to buy at a price they're willing to pay, and which makes it worthwhile/profitable to produce.

Please read @ProfTimLang book, Feeding Britain & @FFC_Commission reports Then @LibDems need to properly consider in the round what is a joined up policy to address food security, public health, the climate & ecological emergencies & sustainable agriculture. 🙏
