I just did with a 7.5 year old. Had been practicing for 2 years. Finally gave him motivation of pokeman cards and boom! I think it is dependent on the kid. Mine has sensory issues and anxiety… he also goes from novice to expert with no middle. He also held it all day

When potty training have them learn to wipe from the start. I always did a followup & at a certain point, I was no longer needed to donate followup, as they had learned to wipe well enough. I potty trained both my children & 2 oldest grandbabies - all were independent by 2 1/2.
