VeryDarkMan: The main problem in this country is that local government chairmen are not working. Until local governments close to the people are allowed to do their job, things won’t improve, since the president, senators, and governors are far from the people. Protests have not solved anything and the problem keeps getting worse. We must first understand the problem and protest strategically.

Fixing poverty is certainly a local government's thing because local governments are the closest to the people. That's why the president is advocating for local government autonomy and also ensures that states are a lot more powerful now in terms of funding. - Tofe Fasua, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Economic Affairs (VP office)

“We have a president who ensures LG autonomy. I spoke to the LG chairman, who said, 'Oh, I will be getting 2.9 billion, from the 200 million I’m getting before’. From the end of this month, LG will receive the money directly.” - Sunday Dare, SA to the President on Media & Public Communications. He emphasized that the current focus should shift more towards state and local governments, citing an example of a state that collected 499 billion Naira last year, which is five times its previous amount, yet has not shown any noticeable improvements.

The Minister of Local Government, Balaam Barugahara, Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi. has been the missing link in fixing local governments, which are at the heart of government service delivery. Whether you like him or not, or agree with how he does things, many aspects of local government are likely to be put in order under his leadership.

🚨CFO Blaise Ingoglia says local governments are LYING when they say they will need to cut first responders when property taxes go away! “If you hear a local government official or an elected official say that if they have to cut their budget, that we are going to lose fire and police, you direct them to me, because I will prove to them that they have more than enough money to cut the budget, offer property tax relief, but yet also protect their first responders. And if a local government says that you are going to have longer wait times, we are not going to be able to hire enough police or deputies, what they are basically saying is that the last thing that they are thinking about is law enforcement, if that is the first thing that they are looking to cut. When you build the budget, the first rule of government is to protect its citizens.”

Everyone should be concerned. The federal government is attempting to seize power and authority from state and local governments. This is un-American. And we will not stand for it. Thank you AprilDRyan for having me on.

N607 billion was allocated to states in June, and N444 billion to local governments. That's over a trillion naira in 1 month. While we focus on the FG, our attention should also be on state governors, as they oversee local government funds. This is why we need full LG autonomy.

Olubadan to Tinubu: You Have Made a Turning Point on Kidnapping in Nigeria When kidnapping of school children occurred in Oyo, we were apprehensive and questioned what the federal and state governments were doing. But we have now seen that, working with your security forces, you have turned the tide on kidnapping in Nigeria. Your decision not to pay ransom and to stand firm shows that we have a government that knows what it is doing. His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja Olubadan of Ibadanland

🚨 NOW: Gov. Ron DeSantis reveals Florida has so much money they will ABOLISH property taxes for primary homeowners, then form a state-level grant fund for local governments who need it for police, fire, and more BRILLIANT! Every state should do this! 🇺🇸 "Because we have surplus at the state level, we are creating a fund that will be able to issue grants to local governments. So if you really say, you know, you need help with a fire or a sheriff's department or education, we'll have grants that we're going to be able to do that for this period." "But what's going to happen is this is going to increase the economic base of all these local areas, because people are going to have more money in their pocket." "They're going to start getting more revenue from existing taxes without having to add new taxes, and they're going to end up in a very stable situation very shortly."
