- As for the Strait of Hormuz, I'm in contact with many of our allies. We all, of course, agree that it should be reopened. I know that the allies are collectively deciding how to achieve this and which method would be the best. They are currently deciding this together. Germany refused. England refused. France said it would only get involved after the end of hostilities. It seems that this little player will go to reopen the Strait of Hormuz only in tandem with Estonia. Well, good luck to them there.

What the hell does Quant actually do? A model is trained in BF16, released in Q8, and we use Q4 because we're told 'its nearly lossless'. Fine, but I was curious about the 'nearly' part, what is actually being lost between BF16 all the way down to Q2? As always, its complicated. Needed a way to visualize the loss, so I had a Qwen 3.8 27B BF16 create a paragraph then had every quant below it do the same and marked the mutations. When a model writes a word, it assigns 'how sure' percentage to each. For example, 'The weather tomorrow is *windy*, a model is 90% sure all the words are correct except the windy part, since it can also be sunny, cold, hot, cloudy, etc. Any words a BF16 model was 90% sure of, every quant down to Q2 rarely changes it. On the other hand, any word that it was only 40~50% sure of, such as windy in our example, are the types of data that gets impacted by the quant process. Okay so what, some words changed, how does this impact anything? I set out to find out, and its all below if you are just as weird as I am about these things.

A little-known UEFA rule could damage Chelsea's Champions League chances. The Blues qualified for the last-16 of the tournament with a 3-2 away win against Napoli on Wednesday night. But they might be forced to give up playing their home leg at Stamford Bridge in the next round in what would be a massive blow, should it come to pass. Instead, Chelsea would have to host the game at a neutral stadium due to one of UEFA's regulations that only allow for one game to be played in a city on any given night. Arsenal and Tottenham finished above Chelsea in the group stage, meaning they take priority for the Tuesday and Wednesday night fixtures on March 17 and 18. The reasoning behind the rule is so that games can be adequately policed without stretching the security too thin. So Chelsea would have to seek special dispensation from UEFA to discard their rule while also getting support from the authorities in London to host the clash. Given that plenty of London football matches are played on the same day at the weekend, that aspect should not be an issue. No one knows the day or the hour. The Sun will be darkened, the Moon will not give its light, and this generation will not pass away until all these signs and events have occurred! The story beats in this show are pretty good in the sense that anyone can understand it, it's not universally profound but it does a good job in highlighting perspectives of every side and have a glimpse at what happened that lead up to it.

So, lots of things that are miserable and kind of get you down. But life cannot just be about solving one miserable problem after another. That can’t be the only thing. There need to be things that inspire you. That make you glad to wake up in the morning and be part of humanity. Earth is the cradle of humanity, but you cannot stay in the cradle forever. Part of the reason IT people are being laid off is that many of their abilities can be replaced by AI. In the past, the joke was that you would just google it, but that still required some IT knowledge. Now, you can ask AI how to fix an issue and it will walk you through how to fix most things. (if you have admin permissions to your computer) To be fair, no one knows all the weird nuances and issues that can arise with software so google has always been used to find IT fixes - but it took more research and knowing how to implement the fix before.

Horrendous. Heartbreaking news from Amsterdam. Is this what we have become? Modern day pogrom as we are remembering Kristallnacht. I am in Texas and it is middle of the night here as I write. Friends from Europe are texting and calling me about the horrendous situation in Amsterdam. In the night of November 7 in Amsterdam there were widespread and terrible raids on Jewish people. After the soccer game Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv, large groups of radical moslims violently attacked Jews, injured them, ran over them with cars… 💔 How is this possible? Why did it take the police so long to get there ? Even on European soil we fail to protect human dignity. Is this what we have become ? It's just terrible! Revolting! Imagine you are Jewish. Horrendous. Heartbreaking news from Amsterdam. Is this what we have become? Modern day pogrom as we are remembering Kristallnacht. I am in Texas and it is middle of the night here as I write. Friends from Europe are texting and calling me about the horrendous situation in Amsterdam. In the night of November 7 in Amsterdam there were widespread and terrible raids on Jewish people. After the soccer game Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv, large groups of radical moslims violently attacked Jews, injured them, ran over them with cars… 💔 How is this possible? Why did it take the police so long to get there ? Even on European soil we fail to protect human dignity. Is this what we have become ? It's just terrible! Revolting! Imagine you are Jewish.
