We have so many brainless, irresponsible, entitled, imbeciles in Britain. Where did we go wrong? ☹️

Lack of respect. And if caught knowing nothing happens to them. Weak parenting and weak laws.

One of the key reasons is the police stopped walking beats, knowing their neighbourhoods and preventing minor crime, like vandalism, fly tipping etc.

I have the same situation. We planted over a dozen young trees in the grounds of the church I go to. There are now 4! The latest was a very nice apple tree and some utter prat has decided to snap it at the base. I ask WHY? What do they get out of it?

Everywhere you go it's like this. Anything that is good...destroy it, dump litter in it or hang dog shit bags on it

Education at home -that’s where! Apologies, but I see a vast majority of children being spoiled rotten. Parents clean up after them instead of teaching responsibility: cleaning up after themselves, putting away their toys, and helping with household chores. Those children then grow up and behave in society according to the values they were raised with.

The results of kids having kids, no discipline or parental guidance in our give away culture.

"Where did we go wrong?" We followed the advice of progressives, and it turns out they had no idea where we were progressing to, nor if it was a better place.

In Singapore, I was surprised to see so many signs cautioning people against littering. Then again, there was no street rubbish to be seen.

Same in Scotland. Graffiti and litter everywhere, especially endemic at the kerbside. Car passengers that think the litter would look awful in their car - so it belongs in the street where it looks fine, for them.

We went wrong when we allowed tolerance to become a weapon used against us to excuse poor behaviour from those we are told should not be admonished for their lack of consideration, manners or brains. Because that would be to ‘judge’ them when they are too ignorant to see for themselves that their behaviour just makes life unpleasant for the rest of us - and that would be very unfair right?

Should be a school curriculum for this

Kids getting away with murder. I used to be in the Woodcraft folk, loved the camping trips and activities, learning songs and survival skills. We were taught to respect the countryside.

The council planted saplings down our road. One day later they were snapped in half ONE DAY

I live in Portugal where there is a graffiti problem. In my area if any graffiti appears I will paint over it within 24 hours. Gradually they are learning that I have both more time and more money to buy paint than them.

I'd say around a third of saplings the council plant in my local park get deliberately destroyed. I don't understand the mentality of it at all, do people not want nice things?

No respect. It needs to be tackled by parents and schools. What's the point in banging on about climate change if your local area is covered in rubbish.

Sorry to see. I wonder if it might be better to take the supports away from larger saplings so they don't attract so much attention. They should be able to support themselves and the supports don't appear to prevent damage.

you have to prove to a bank you are a responsible adult to obtain a mortgage. there are no checks in place to becoming a parent!! schools do not teach mutual respect empathy honesty morals principles values good responsible parenting does

When I was a wee kid, I’d be scared of littering, cycling with no lights, trespassing etc etc. Anything that was perceived as being illegal / against the law was frowned upon. Nowadays it’s open season. Police do not seem to care? Authorities look the other way?

Mostly government failures. Regular cleanup crews could deal with the trash and graffiti. Worst graffiti areas just need cameras, carefully watched. Nab a few “artists”, sentence them to a year of cleaning graffiti or two years of jail, their choice. Then make sure the entire community knows, to deter the rest. It is all government policy. Britain has been ill served by its leadership since ww2. As has the USA. When everyone sees a problem yet it is not sorted, it is government failure. Ill placed patriotism can prevent necessary critique.

Bad parents... made possible by tolerance and welfare? Human rights lawyers are almost entirely to blame? Or weak judges living by the letter? The worst parents I know are almost entirely on benefits... (and 50% foreign).

It's happening everywhere, even here in Cornwall. The problem is this is the product of irresponsible, disrespectful parents producing irresponsible, disrespectful children. The issue has become generational.

Same thing here. A developer built a block of flats on green land, and in exchange they planted three saplings next to it. After a year someone snapped the saplings. Nobody feels obliged to replant them.

This is what happens when you get adults who don’t give a fuck about anyone or anything breeding and it rubbing off on their kids!

Deeply ashamed of this country. People are rude, selfish, arrogant and generally unpleasant. As for our surroundings, it’s grubby, litter-strewn with filthy road signs, overflowing drains and councils that don’t give a stuff except cutting down every tree in sight.
