They know that there are only two moments per year. we do have things filmed and saved but whether we’ll let them see, that’s a whole other story. we just film our moments and keep them as memories, and when a really special day comes, we can share them. Today, I concluded a deal to substantially lower the price of ground beef for working American families. As everyone knows, under President Biden, beef prices soared at their fastest rate and the American beef herd fell to its smallest size in modern history. As we work to rebuild this herd and help our ranchers, for the next 90 days, the United States will allow up to 300,000 metric tons of product for ground beef to be imported with no out of quota tariff. We have a commitment that this beef will be sold at 25 percent below current market prices. Breaking up this monopoly is one of the most effective ways we can lower beef prices and this decision will help not only ranchers, but Americans in the long term. Positive news out of the admin, especially after last week’s decision to import 300,000 metric tons of foreign beef.

Prior to WWII, the USA produced more lamb in our country than we could consume - we were an exporter of lamb. Today, we import over 80% of the lamb consumed. Beef imports grew 24% in 2024 as compared to 2023. Beef prices remain at record highs, while the cattle population remains at record lows. The United States of America is now importing more beef than we are exporting. We fear the same that is currently true for lamb imports/exports will soon be the reality for beef. Food Security should have the support and attention from both sides of the isle. If we cannot feed our people, what else can we do?
