During meetings in China, national factions agreed to achieve comprehensive Palestinian unity, incorporating all Palestinian forces within the PLO framework. They committed to establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in line with UN resolutions, and ensuring the right of return per Resolution 194. Mustafa Barghouti, Palestinian politician and co-founder of the Palestinian National Initiative, called Trump’s Gaza plan a “great disappointment” that is riddled with “mines.” He slammed Trump for being openly biased toward Israel, ignoring Palestinians’ right to self-determination, and failing to address the core issue: Israeli occupation. The “mines”/ dangers: 1. No real Israeli withdrawal: only vague “stages,” with Netanyahu explicitly saying it will be “slow” — Barghouti calls it a recipe for disaster. 2. Israel could restart the war: even after captives are returned, Netanyahu has said he would resume genocide if he wanted. Without guarantees, Israel could manipulate events to justify more attacks. 3.
