I ain't listening to all that. You can't gaslight and guilt the public into accepting 24/7 surveillance. People as is cannot use apps that are banned by the government. This is not a dictatorship yet Rahul. People have freedom and rights, the constitution is still relevant.

These Apps are optional and at the worst can monetize my data. But in the original notification Govt made SS mandatory. Govt can punish you but other Apps cannot. And one has legal recource againstnpvt Apps. Benefits override therisk there. Not very complicated to understand.

This argument would carry some weight if BOTH sets of Apps the foreign ones, AND the desi Sarkari app - were rolled out with the same degree of compulsion or choice

Dear Shivshankar, you’ve got white hair but still haven’t understood the basic thing - The issue with any app is not whether it’s “desi or foreign” - it’s about its permissions and its privacy safeguards.

Rahul, out of the apps that you mentioned Arogya Setu just didn't work (the way it was intended to) because Bluetooth visibility has to be there on both devices. As someone having been deeply involved in IT initiatives of the Government during most of my career, I can tell that with 100 percent confidence as I had confronted those involved in its development in @NICMeity and those outside it in @NITIAayog. Theoretically too, it could only work on triangulation method of GSM Towers which give very gross distances. So, despite there being so much of hype, the app just didn't work. I had myself tried by going close to several Covid patients (with N95 mask on, of course) and I never got an alert!

No one is forcing me to install and use any US or Chinese app or any app for that matter. Only the Govt of India and DoT want to force me to install and use Sanchar Saathi which i don’t want. The app can be useful but forcing it on citizens is nothing but dictatorship!

Because we use WhatsApp chat, Google's email, Facebook's SM. There is no option but to give our data to them. "Them" - not just one entity. The Indian government is just one. And why would govt need our data? We need to chat, email, SM. We don't need Sanchar Saathi.

I’d rather prefer to install Sanchar Saathi than living in uncertainty every moment that some terrorist is just round the corner. These educated lot hoodwinked systems of procuring mobiles & SIM cards so easily & repercussions could’ve been much worse. What would you choose?
