Our Artemis II astronauts are back on Earth, but this is just the beginning. Artemis III in 2027 will test our lunar landers and push our capabilities forward. Artemis IV in 2028 will begin the first phase of the NASA Moon Base and establish our path to stay. We are building with purpose, moving with urgency, and keeping our promise to President Donald J. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman says the primary objective of the Artemis II’s trip around the moon is “to gather data from the ECLSS system, the life support system on the Orion spacecraft,” which will be used in future missions. “Learning as much as we can about Orion is critically important because Artemis III is a year away,” he says. “That's where we're going to test the same spacecraft with our lunar landers. Followed up in 2028 by Artemis IV, where we're going to use this spacecraft, transfer crew to the landers, and put American astronauts back on the surface of the moon.”

It has multiple cool new tech ideas, to be used when the FLIP version rolls on the Moon soon. Advances from both are being built into the CLV-1 Crewed Lunar Vehicle that NASA chose for Moon Base - will go over 6 mph, directly and remotely piloted.
