.Naval: You define wealth in a beautiful way. You talk about wealth as a set of physical transformations that we can affect. So as a society it becomes very clear that knowledge leads directly to wealth creation for everybody. A given individual can obviously affect physical transformations proportional to the resources available to them—but much more proportional to the knowledge available to them. Otherwise it’s not real. But that seems like a Catch-22. David Deutsch: It does, and it’s a bad argument. I don’t want to claim that the knowledge will be created. We’re fallible; we may not create it. We may destroy ourselves. We may miss the solution that’s right under our nose, so that when the snailiens come from another galaxy and look at us, they’ll say, “How can it possibly be that they failed to do so-and-so when it was right in front of them?” That could happen. I can’t prove or argue that it won’t happen. What I always argue, though, is that we have what it takes. We have everything that it takes to achieve that. If we don’t, it’ll be because of bad choices we have made, not because of constraints imposed on us by the planet or the solar system. Naval: It will be by anti-rational memes that restrict the creation of knowledge and the growth of knowledge. David Deutsch: Maybe. Or maybe it’ll be by well-intentioned errors, which nobody could see why they were errors. Again, it doesn’t take malevolence to make mistakes. Mistakes are the normal condition of humans. All we can do is try to find them. Maybe not destroying the means of correcting errors is the heart of morality; because if there is no way of correcting errors, then sooner or later one of those will get us. Naval: Don’t destroy the means of error correction is the base of morality. I love that. I think about places like North Korea where you can’t have elections and a revolution is very difficult because the gang in charge is armed to the teeth and they’ve destroyed the means of political error correction for a long time. That is a case where humanity is trapped in a local minimum, and it’s very hard to climb out of that hole. If too much of the world falls into that mindset, then we as a species may just stagnate because we’ve lost our biggest advantage. We’ve lost our biggest discovery, which was the ability to make new discoveries.

We’re trying to give ourselves a swing at the plate every year. We did that last year. The point of where we are with the age of our best players is we can still be good but we’re obviously not in the same class as we were 5-6 years ago. We’re not in the same class as the team we played tonight and several other teams in the league. There’s no point in denying that. We have to embrace it, be realistic, and give ourselves a shot. We can give ourselves a shot like we did a year ago by connecting and staying healthy and getting on a run. We’re still good enough to do that. If you do that and you have a shot, you get to the playoffs, you never know what’s going to happen. I think that’s where we are right now so we’ve got to keep fighting.”

When a whole society is organised around labour as the organising principle of life, and machines suddenly remove both the work and the need for it, most people will not feel free. They will feel cut loose. Energy cannot be created. It can only change form. Every energy stock we rely on was already in the ground. We did not invent coal or oil. We found them and worked out how to dig them up and burn them at industrial scale. That single fact undercuts the entire fantasy of endless growth on a finite planet. Yet we keep building systems that pretend the physical limits do not exist. The political acceleration, the technological rush, the economic pressure all keep intensifying while human bodies quietly struggle to keep pace. This is so funny!!! see how skinny I was! 😩😂 I actually started today not feeling so motivated, but watching this reminded me of where it all began and how far I’ve come. Ojo KetaLa (The 13th Day) my first film as a producer, around 2003/2004. To anyone out there chasing a dream please don’t give up. Keep pushing. Stay intentional. Stay consistent. Every stage of your life will require a new version of you. Be ready to evolve. Be ready to reinvent yourself. If this young girl could keep going… then so can you. I’m grateful for the journey. 🐖🐇: i love the members 8️⃣: ㅎㅎㅎ 🐖🐇: we really try to not let things pile up. when a trouble comes up, we try to resolve it immediately. even when we argue, i do it with the mindset "i'll definitely resolve this today" and also, without the members, i know too well that things wouldn't work out. looking at how we've been together until now, i think that they're the people i want to be with and keep seeing forever. they're really like a family!

Jesus said His return would be like the days of Noah. Not just marked by darkness, but by people continuing on as normal, unaware of what was coming. There may be increasing spiritual confusion and deception, but the greater issue is this: people are not ready. God is patient. He is not trying to keep people out, He is calling them in. There is still time to turn, to come back, and to walk in fellowship with Him. Sin doesn’t just affect behavior, it affects relationship. It separates, and if we’re not careful, it leaves us unprepared for His appearing. This isn’t a message of fear. It’s a call to be ready while there is still time. Watch the full episode here:

A new cinematic AI piece. "Panopticon - Survivorship" This is my sixth piece in my Midjourney + Magnific.ai + Runway series. I've been on a bit of a creative streak for the past week and loving this new process. I almost gave up on this one, but then finally found a narrative through line. It looks at those who survive a disaster, but it is a contemplation of those who did not survive. We not only zoom in on those who are trying to get to safety, but we zoom in looking for those who may not have survived. We also zoom into elements that may help identify people. It also looks at who is hardest hit by a disaster and it is often people of color and I hope the piece elicits a question of why this is the case and an examination of the dark history it may uncover.

A few years ago Jessi asked me if I would be interested in being her next co-host for the Bardown Beauties Podcast. People have always asked me how that came to be and this is how. I knew of Jessi when I started working with the Wild, and interacted with her initially when I was a guest on the podcast and then she and Alexis were guests on the show I hosted for the Wild at the time. But, the first summer I spent working for DaBeauty League was where I went from knowing Jessi as a professional and got to know Jessi on an incredibly personal level. This was the stuff we did that summer. We talked about life, we had fun, and she signed herself up to get some of her hair shaved off. This is one of the videos I’ve watched over and over these last few days because this is where it really all started and I’m forever grateful for it.
