In the video, ICE agents surround a man who is already on his knees on the pavement, with his hands raised, while agents stand over him and verify his citizenship. They also do not need someone on their knees to “verify” citizenship. And forcing someone into a compliance position on the ground without probable cause constitutes an unlawful detention under the Fourth Amendment. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey rejected federal officials’ claims Wednesday that a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent acted in self-defense when he shot and killed a motorist. Frey said he saw video of the shooting and called ICE’s explanation “bulls**t.” Videos taken by bystanders that were posted to social media show an officer coming toward an SUV that was stopped across the middle of a snowy and icy road. As the officer attempted to open the driver’s side door, the car sped away in the general direction of a different officer who was standing in front of the SUV with his gun drawn. That officer, who was knocked backward but not hit, opened fire on the SUV. The car sped toward the curb, crashing into parked vehicles. “This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed,” he said at a news conference. Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security’s assistant secretary for public affairs, said in a statement that a motorist “weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them” during ICE operations in Minneapolis. “An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots,” McLaughlin said. “He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.” Fray said local officials have “dreaded this moment” since ICE began deploying officers to the city as part of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdowns in American cities. Just before his sentencing was delayed, he said this: “The only thing I really have to say is that we need to protect trans youth so that they don’t end up like me.” “And what the government here in Alberta is choosing to do to them now is going to make it worse.” Rule of thumb: Never take advice from a psychopath who tries to kill his own kids. What the government in Alberta did was ban puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries for children under 16 years of age. 🚨 Father killed his 4-year-old son and buried the body under his house for nearly a year — after foster parents repeatedly warned CPS he wasn’t safe. Jacob Bevins, 36, of Aberdeen, Washington, was arrested and booked on second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, unlawful disposal of human remains, and making false statements to police. Aiden Scott Bevins had been missing for about a year. When police checked on the family in May, Bevins claimed the boy was staying with relatives out of state. Relatives said that wasn’t true. Bevins later admitted striking the child on the head. He changed his story to say the boy fell while being chased to the bathroom. A pediatric expert review found the blunt force trauma injuries were inconsistent with an accidental fall. The boy’s body was found May 15 buried under the house in a garbage bag. His 6-year-old sister was found safe with their mother. Former foster parents Gary and Magali Lopez, who cared for Aiden from ages 1 to 3, say they contacted Child Protective Services multiple times with serious concerns about his safety and health when he was returned to his biological parents. They say those warnings were ignored. A little boy who had already been through the foster system is now dead and buried under his father’s house. Bevins was held on $150,000 bail. At the time of his arrest, he had three outstanding warrants for motor vehicle theft, vehicle prowling, and reckless driving. When foster parents raise repeated red flags about a child’s safety and the system still sends him back — what accountability exists for the agencies that ignored the warnings?
