He started down toward the surf on his own, stiff and determined, the way he used to trot to the door when the kids came home from school. When the first cold wave washed over his paws, his whole face lit up. How often do we hit those defining moments in life that completely change how we see ourselves and how others see us? For me, it was back in 9th grade. My wifey found him!!!!!! 2 miles into the Forrest! We ran into some campers that saw him and split up into two directions. Wifey actually climbed up to the top of the mountain and found him hiding from wolves and coyotes and bears in like a rock cave. She took a video and saw his eyes glowing and he was keeping quiet which was smart cause of predators I had just buried my little dog after 20 years together and Bruno is only 4 so I feared the worst and wifey kept saying she’ll find him and she did in pitch black dark with just a flashlight after almost 5hrs Sorry for the drama but I had a presentation planned and my 11yr old daughter ran up and told me that one of the smaller kids opened one of the sliding doors and he went exploring but we have some construction going on so he couldn’t get to the park that we normally go to next to my house and he crossed a dark semi busy highway which was a first and ended up 2 miles into a pitch black Forrest How she found him I still don’t know. I had grabbed my tent ready to sleep the night deep in the woods too. But I got lucky, he’s the sweetest animal and my best friend we do everything together everyday and he sleeps in my bed with me every night so I was heart broken until my wife faced time’d me and said look who I found and I bust into tears of joy not gonna lie and said how the F did you find him, and she said his magical glowing eyes and for the first time I laughed and could feel my heart fill with joy Sorry for the long story.

In 1401, the cathedral chapter of Seville met to decide what to build on the ruins of the city's mosque. According to tradition, this is what they agreed: "Let us build a church so beautiful and so great that those who see it finished will think we were mad." It took more than a century, and when it was finished it was the largest cathedral on earth, and it is still the largest Gothic cathedral in the world... The minaret of the old mosque was left standing and turned into the bell tower, the Giralda. It has no staircase. Inside are thirty-five wide ramps, built so the muezzin could ride a horse to the top to call the city to prayer. People have been climbing them for hundreds of years. And inside the cathedral stands what its own archives call the largest altarpiece in Christendom: a wall of carved wood and gold nearly thirty metres high, telling the life of Christ. The Flemish sculptor who began it, Pieter Dancart, worked on it until he died. It took almost a hundred years to finish. Not one of the men who said that sentence in 1401 lived to see the building completed... There is a marble quarry in the Italian Alps that has been working since 1387, but in 639 years it has had only one customer... The quarry is at Candoglia, at the mouth of the Ossola valley. On 24 October 1387, Gian Galeazzo Visconti decided that the cathedral going up in his city should be built of marble rather than brick, and handed the quarry over to the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, the body established to build it. He also granted the stone free passage down the waterways to Milan. The blocks went by raft from the river Toce into Lake Maggiore, down the Ticino, along the Naviglio Grande, then through a system of locks into a small lake in the centre of the city, a few hundred metres from the site. The bargemen carried the letters AUF, for "ad usum fabricae", for the use of the works, which cleared the cargo through customs without charge. People in Lombardy still say "a ufo" for something got for nothing, and the phrase is traditionally traced back to those barges... Mark Twain came in 1867 and noticed something most visitors walk past: "We saw a new statue put in its niche yesterday alongside of one which had been standing these four hundred years." It has never stopped: around a thousand tonnes of Candoglia marble still comes out of the mountain every year, and all of it goes to the same building. In a workshop in the Certosa district, sculptors cut replacements for whatever the weather has eaten away, from the same stone, for the same institution, founded in 1387. The cathedral was declared finished in 1965 but the quarry never stopped, because a cathedral like this is not something you complete... it is inherited, kept, and handed on. As John Ruskin wrote in The Seven Lamps of Architecture: "When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight, nor for present use alone; let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think, as we lay stone on stone, that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labour and wrought substance of them: ‘See! This our fathers did for us.’"
