Thanks to the Rachel Maddow for having me on tonight to highlight how ICE is terrorizing our community in Salt Lake City and across the country. We need leaders who will stand up for our immigrant communities, listen to them, and take on the authoritarians like Trump who think they can get away with these atrocities. We don’t need more status-quo politicians like my opponent, Ben McAdams, who has been bought-and-paid for by the private prison industry and ICE contractors. This new DHS facility (internment camp) moved forward without any community input. That’s not how democracy should work. We need systems rooted in compassion that create real pathways to citizenship, we need to abolish ICE and prosecute the folks responsible. The agency should lose any social license to operate for tearing families apart in our streets.

Friends can be competitors, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and I agreed today as he called me so we could, among other matters, exchange well wishes ahead of South Africa’s knockout #fifaworldcup match against Canada in Los Angeles tomorrow night. Mark Carney and I work together very well on many issues in our bilateral relations and in our roles in the international community but we’ve agreed to disagree on proceedings tomorrow night. Like all South Africans, I look forward to our Boys dazzling and defeating the Canadians en route to the last 16. Of course, we wish Canada well as they prepare for 90 challenging minutes of African football. Kaofela! Go Bafana Bafana! I’ll be happy to call the Prime Minister this time.

EU foreign ministers are planning to discuss the possibility of engaging in direct talks with Russia when they meet later this month - Kaja Kallas "Before we discuss with Russia, we should discuss amongst ourselves what we want to talk to them about, and that is why we have Gymnich meeting coming with the Foreign Ministers." Kallas stressed that the issue of European security is that Russia constantly attacks its neighbours and how we can prevent this. She also responded to Putin’s proposal to appoint former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder as a negotiator between Russia and the EU: "First, if we give the right to Russia to appoint negotiator on our behalf, that would not be very wise. And second, I think Gerhard Schröder has been high level lobbyist for Russian state-owned companies."

Today, we are present at the Islamabad High Court to peacefully raise our voices. Doctors are to be given training in better ways to diagnose and treat people with ME - as part of a long delayed action plan that's finally been published. The debilitating condition with a range of symptoms including severe exhaustion and constant pain, affects around 400,000 people in England and Wales. But with little funding allocated, is the plan enough to deliver the progress and recognition they need? Minister for Public Health and Prevention, Ashley Dalton, said that the plan 'will help tackle the stigma and lack of awareness of this condition through improved training for NHS staff'. The Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust told us: 'Due to patient confidentiality, we cannot comment on individual patient cases or discuss specific clinical interactions.'
