The Pirates haven’t won a Paul Skenes start in over a month and are currently trailing the Marlins 2-1… Skenes has seen a dip in his fastball velocity this season and nobody in Pittsburgh seems to notice he’s holding the baseball with a different set of muscles this year…. This 👇 is why good baseball men consider 1-knee-down catching to be trash. Catcher calls a sweeper. If Keller is going to throw it in the dirt, it will be to the catcher's rigth. Yet, catcher keeps his left knee down, rendering him UNABLE to move to his right and potentially block this ball. So a very blockable ball on a strike 3 leads to a (technical) wild pitch, and a baserunner. It's trash, when it's a blocking situation. And you can't convince me otherwise.
