Russia lost over 50% of its tanks since the beginning of the war – OSINT researchers Jompy, Highmarsed and Covert Cabal A large-scale investigation using the latest available satellite imagery showed that tank numbers in Russian open-air storage have dropped to 48% of pre-war levels. Of the remaining 3517 tanks, only 279 are considered combat-ready. Almost 2000 tanks need refurbishment before they can be used. Another 1200 tanks can only be stripped for parts. Repair costs and limited production capacity have slowed tank replacements significantly. In 2024, Russia pulled just 1,150 tanks from storage—half the number deployed in 2023. Data from the researchers indicates a similar depletion of Russian IFV and APC reserves. The recent war in southern Lebanon has proven the weaknesses of the Trophy active protection system (APS) installed on the armored vehicles and tanks of the IDF. This footage released by the Hezbollah terrorist organization clearly shows how one of their FPV drones hit a Merkava Mk4 main battle tank of the IDF exactly next to its APS, and you can see that Trophy did not activate to prevent the drone from hitting it. This is not the only Merkava that has been hit during this recent war. We have seen several other cases, whether released by the Hezbollah terrorist organization or others.

The K-CEV's new unmanned heavy armored combat engineering vehicle has been unveiled for the first time. Based on the K-21 IFV, it features a reinforced frame and additional armor. It can be operated manned or unmanned and features a new grenade launcher and machine gun combined turret with AI-based recognition and targeting. It is also said to be equipped with various drones. Mass production is scheduled for six months of testing. The very first footages of repelling the largest Russian tank attack of the entire war began to appear. The attack took place on March 30th on the Avdiivka front near the village of Tonenke. Russia gathered 36 tanks and 12 AFVs for this attack. 12 tanks and 8 AFVs were reportedly destroyed as a result. Now, 25th brigade of Ukraine published the first footages. Video from CSP “Omega” shows footage of a T-72B3A tank being hit in the rear — the APS failed to activate. 2 tanks (1 with Arena-M APS and one with “Mangal”) were struck near the settlement of Mayak, Donetsk Oblast. T here are still no details on why the APS did not work or how many tanks were equipped with it, but it is clear that the attempt at a massed use of Russian armored vehicles failed. Whose fault it is — KBM (the developers of the system), UVZ (who, as usual, did everything half-assedly and installed a minimal number of countermeasures), or the tank crews themselves — remains unknown for now.
