Runners have taken to the streets across South Africa to demand action after the murders of nine women near Johannesburg. Police have found nine bodies in the town of Ekurhuleni over the last two months: most of the victims were in their twenties or thirties and some showed signs of sexual assault. Campaigners say women feel increasingly unsafe in a country where gender-based violence is so prevalent that last year, it was declared a national disaster.
