One year ago today, the Eaton and Palisades Fires ignited what became the most devastating natural disaster in Los Angeles history. Thousands of families were forced from their homes. Neighborhoods and livelihoods were leveled. Dozens of lives were lost. A year later, the determination of our communities to remember those we lost, support neighbors working to rebuild, and ensure we are better prepared for future threats remains unwavering.

Christmas Day miracle just happened in Boone, NC. The Penley family lost their home to Hurricane Helene. Mom was discharged from the hospital today after the birth of their precious daughter Gracie. The family had planned to move into a homeless shelter. Thanks to EmergencyRV donors and supporters they were gifted an EmergencyRV instead. 🎄 Merry Christmas and thank you to all who support our work gifting shelter to deserving families. So as soon as the siren is heard, people stop whatever they’re doing, wherever they are, to honour those we lost to horror and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. People walking in the street stop. Those driving on highways stop their cars in the middle of the road, get out, and stand in remembrance. An entire office stops working. A family sharing a meal stops eating. All for a respectful silence. So the same way everything stops on Yom HaShoah in Israel to remember the Holocaust, everything stops on Yom HaZikaron for those we lost to terror — and the fallen soldiers who fought to save Jews from another Holocaust. May the memories of those we lost forever be blessings of light to us all.🕯️💙🤍🇮🇱
