We ran a little experiment: we added support for your JetBrains AI subscription in the Pi coding agent. Nowhere near production ready, but would you actually use this in your terminal? Btw, Jan-Niklas Wortmann built it with Opus 4.8, now available in JetBrains IDEs.

@wordmandotdev would use it if the JetBrains intent layer (refactor index, structural search, intentions) survives the terminal hop. bash + opus 4.8 alone is just Claude Code in another shell. is the LSP wired in?

@wordmandotdev terminal-based ai access is the move, yeah id use it. the pi agent in jetbrains is interesting - ide integration gives you more context than terminal-only anyway. the real question is whether it handles long-running agent tasks well or dies on complex multi-file changes

@wordmandotdev A minor inconvenience I have is when I already have the CLI tool/agent installed outside JB, so I've already gone through the login and setup all I need I'd expect the ACP support to pick up what's already in my env, not prompt me to login again and setup again

@wordmandotdev i'd use it if the handoff between ide and terminal did not feel like two products pretending to share a repo.

@wordmandotdev not sure the terminal is where jetbrains users actually live though the whole reason i switched from VSCode was the IDE depth. did early testers actually prefer terminal over just having it sit deeper in the editor?

@wordmandotdev the reason most people don't use ai in their terminal is that it's not clear what problem it's solving for them in the first place, so we might be trying to solve the wrong problem by making it more seamless
