Profiles of Freedom 𝐒𝐤𝐲 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐊𝐀 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 “𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐛𝐨” 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥 On August 10, 2018, a 28 year airport ground crew employee stole a passenger airplane from Seattle- Tacoma airport and took it joyriding. Something we have all dreamed about! Sky King had no flight experience, other than playing video games at home. Shortly after takeoff, two F-15’s were scrambled to follow him. An air traffic controller reached out to Sky King on the radio and spoke to him for the next hour and fifteen minutes. The quotes above are all taken from the transcript. During his joyride, he went sightseeing over Mount Rainier and the Olympics Mountain. He performed several daring aerial maneuvers. He asked air traffic control if the plane could do a backflip. Then he completed a barrel roll with just ten feet to spare between the plane and the water below. He even asked for the GPS coordinates of an orca and calf that were recently spotted in the area. Shortly after this, he directed the plane to a remote island, and crashed it into the ground. Sky King definitely had some mental problems, which he admitted to during his flight. And it is very tragic the way he took his own life. But I think there is something beautiful about a man stealing a plane to go see some mountains, go whale watching, and do some sick flips! For an hour and fifteen minutes he was the most free man in the world! Free from the control of the government, his employers, and the society he rejected. It's a tragedy, and I wish he could have ended it differently. I would have loved to read any book he wrote. But my heart smiles when I think about him seizing control of his life and living his dream of flying and doing a barrel roll! Rest In Peace Sky King! 🙏

Rest In Peace Sky King!

We never know what someone else is going through Be Kind We all in this fukery together

Almost posted this a few days ago.. too sad to post. Fly high Sky King

Yes, We Do

Almost cried watching that and I don't know why

this was the most exciting 5 min video i've watched all day. i was rooting for that man so hard re. the barrel roll is he still alive?

I might be shedding a few tears - just sayin. For his senior yearbook quote, he chose a Bible verse: “Whoever enters an athletic competition wins the prize only when playing by the rules.”

For that brief time he was free. It is terribly sad though.
