@ActionSATshwane South Africa deserves leaders like you, South African Youth have been marginalised, it’s enough, many corrupt leaders implemented policies that promoted youth as being lazy. Whilst they not & never was, today’s youth, they resilient, they smart and are going to make a change soon

Young people have never been lazy. What happens is they get tired of the system that’s rigged against them as they get older then eventually end up settling for crumbs to make ends meet. By that time, that youthful energy has been depleted and they focus less on their dreams.

The question is how do you inculcate a work culture among the youth? Opportunities exist but most of the time there are no takers who are willing to work.

We have been living in darkness for over a month and nobody is checking for us. Electricity was cut off early in the morning but the restoration is non existent 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

@HermanMashaba Young people all have similar issues. 1. Our schooling system fails to equip SA students for the real world eg driving licenses, real work experience. 2. Very little educated adult role models. 3. No hope and no volition. #techocraticgovernance

We just need to reskill the youth Mayor. We need to channel the youth into technical skills. The biggest challenge is those that dont have matric for one reason or the other we need to find a way to absorb them and give them technical skills that the economy needs.

I'm confused. I thought the narrative was that it wasn't a skills issue, but that foreigners were taking jobs skilled South Africans could do. Why isn't the programme just placing qualified people into work opportunities? Especially those that have been unemployed the longest.

Hello Abuja, Today, as we gather to commemorate International Youth Day—a day that acknowledges the crucial role young people play in shaping our world's future—I am honored to stand in solidarity with the youth of our nation, particularly those in the FCT, and from around the world. I also wish to reaffirm our dedication to empowering them for a sustainable future. We stand at a critical juncture in human history, where the decisions we make today will shape the future of our planet. Climate change, inequality, and social injustice threaten our very existence. Yet, I stand before you with hope, inspired by the passion, creativity, and determination of our young people. Youth empowerment is not only a moral imperative but also an economic and social necessity. Investing in our youth means investing in our future. We must provide them with access to quality education, skills training, and opportunities for participation in decision-making processes. As leaders, we must create an enabling environment that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity. We must listen to their voices, value their perspectives, and support their initiatives. We must also address the systemic barriers that prevent many young people from reaching their full potential. To the young people of the FCT, I say this: we hear you, we see you, and we believe in you. We will work tirelessly to ensure you have the resources, support, and opportunities you need to thrive. Let us join forces to build a world that is just, equitable, and sustainable for all—a world where young people can grow, flourish, and lead. Happy International Youth Day! -Iretikingibe
