I remember April 1994 as if it were yesterday. This short testimony goes to the youth, but especially to those who dare to speak of a “double genocide.” I was not hunted. But I remember how Tutsis were hunted. I remember conversations with my Tutsi peers. Fear in their eyes. Total despair. Wondering where to hide. I remember Tutsi neighbours trying to return to their places of origin, hoping to find safety, and never making it. Some were killed on the way. Others were killed when they arrived, in places they believed would protect them. I remember churches becoming places of animosity. Places of slaughter. And I remember not understanding how people could suddenly become so cruel. There was a roadblock near our home. People were stopped and asked to present their IDs. If your ID said Tutsi, you were to die. If you had children, they were to die, no matter their age. If you were pregnant, the unborn child was to die first. The unspeakable had become normal. There was a nearby forest. Killers had given it a name, CND. And we would hear them say they had taken people to CND. That is how death was spoken about. Casually. As if it meant nothing. No one questioned it. Those who could ask were the same ones killing or giving the orders. At no point during the Genocide against the Tutsi did I hear of Hutus being hunted for being Hutu. Tutsis were hunted. Systematically. Ruthlessly. Yes, some Hutus were killed because they were mistaken for Tutsi. Yes, some Hutus were killed because they refused to kill, or because they chose to hide and protect Tutsis. Yes, many Hutus died on the way to exile, mostly from cholera. But they were never hunted to death for being Hutu. Let us not distort history. Let us not equalise what was never equal. To the youth, Rwanda was once dead. What you see today did not exist. And yet, we rose. We rebuilt. We chose unity over division. Today, Rwanda stands strong, among the fast-developing nations, guided by visionary leadership under H.E. Paul Kagame. Under Inkotanyi, who stopped the genocide when the international community failed to act. Our dignity was restored. Today, amahanga aratwubaha. This is not something we can ever take for granted. We must stand together to protect our country and our leadership. We must stand together to fight any harm against Rwanda. We must stand together against any form of genocide ideology. We must stand together against denial, so that “Never Again” becomes a reality. Today and forever. As our President said, Rwanda cannot die twice. #Kwibuka32

On 23rd October, I testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. My speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. Here it is: My name is Yanis Varoufakis. I am an economist, a politician and activist representing Greece’s MeRA25 as well as the paneuropean radical movement DiEM25, and I am here in my capacity as an expert on the manner in which capitalist dynamics are fuelling and reinforcing the Genocide of the Palestinian people. Today, with a view to assisting the jury to reach an informed verdict, I shall address the economic forces underpinning the complicity of global capital in, initially, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and, more recently, their genocide. The jury should want to keep in mind that genocide pays. And, I shall be arguing later, it pays a great deal more now that a new form of capital is involved in its execution. To begin, the jury should want to acknowledge that capitalism thrives on human misery and in sheer destruction. There is, therefore, no paradox in the fact that, at a time when demand, production and consumer confidence are falling precipitously in Israel, the Israeli Stock Exchange not only did not fall since the Gaza genocide began but in fact it rose by more than 160%. This reflects the underlying Political Economy of Occupation and, in particular, the manner in which thousands of Israeli companies are intertwined with US, European and Korean mega-corporations – including the world’s weightiest financial conglomerates – comprising an international network that kicked into overdrive after October 2023. The moment the Israeli defence budget doubled, it crowded in large ‘investments’ into Israel’s killing machine. For more detailed information on this, the jury should take into account the Report to the United Nations published by Francesca Albanese, the UN’s Special Raporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories entitled ‘From Economy of Occupation to Economy of Genocide’. Of course, none of this is new. History teaches us that economic interests have been key drivers and enablers of colonial enterprises and often of the genocides they perpetrated. The corporate sector has been intrinsic to colonialism since its inception, with corporations – beginning with the Dutch and British East India Companies – historically contributing to the violence against, the exploitation, and ultimately the dispossession of Indigenous people and lands, a mode of domination known as racial colonial capitalism. Israel’s colonization of the occupied Palestinian lands could not have been an exception. The jury should be aware of the manner in which Palestine today demonstrates all three phases of colonial expropriation: First came the phase of unsophisticated expropriation – the brutal plunder of land and the conversion of indigenous people into cheap or even slave labour. That phase, which led to the rise of capitalism in the 18th Century, was evidenced in Palestine since the Balfour Declaration and, much more so, during and in the aftermath of the Nakba. Palestinian land was brutally expropriated and Palestinians either turned into refugees or encased in Bantustans which ended up, until at least the second intifada, providing cheap labour to the colonisers. The second phase of modern colonialism, also known as neoimperialism, did not so much concern the plunder of land as it was intended to secure markets for the surplus commodities of the capitalist metropoles that the capitalist metropoles could not absorb domestically due to insufficient domestic demand. This neoimperialist dimension also made its appearance in Palestine in connection to the plight of the Palestinian people as Israel began to absorb massive quantities of weaponry imported from the US, Germany and UK, thus contributing significantly to the aggregate demand in those countries. More recently still, the Israeli arms manufacturers have managed to enter this game as exporters – by exporting hi-tech weaponry tried and tested on the Palestinian population to foreign countries, including (shamefully) my own country, Greece, but Arab countries too. The third phase of contemporary capital accumulation feeding expropriation at home and colonialism abroad, is the one I refer to as the technofeudal phase – a phase underpinned by the accumulation of a new, radical form of capital which I have called cloud capital. The jury will want to note that cloud capital is a network of machines (comprising phones, tablets, servers and algorithms) which does something remarkable: we train it to train us to train it to know us well and, eventually, manipulate our behaviour and, therefore, giving the owners of this cloud capital exorbitant powers to do things to us against our will in their interest. In this context, the jury should want to take into account the fact that no country has given as much access to a population’s biometric data as Israel has given to IBM. Since the Gaza genocide began, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet and Palantir have been expanding their cloud capital penetration at a breathtaking pace. Face recognition software, target selection algorithms and automated execution systems are being tested in real time, at will, and with fewer ethical constraints than in the case of experiments on laboratory rats. America’s Big Tech could not be happier. War, ladies and gentlemen, was always lucrative. Arms dealers made fortunes from supplying weapons to the highest bidder. Indirectly, all sorts of capital – including capital that produced consumer goods – accumulated faster at times of war and destruction. But, in this technofeudal age, cloud capital accumulates new powers in the battlefields directly by improving its algorithms’ capacity to understand and to manipulate humans. Nothing helps cloud capital improve its efficiency than the real time experience of monitoring and manipulating the behaviour of combatants, of target-selectors, of the politicians that enable these target-selectors and, yes, tragically, of the population targeted for annihilation. The jury should, therefore, be aware of the fact that today’s AI-targeting devices that maximise death and destruction in Gaza will tomorrow morning power up the Amazon or Google or Microsoft algorithms which make us buy stuff we neither need nor want; which poison our conversations in our social media; that drive increasingly dispossessed proletarians, drivers, nurses and warehouse workers. In other words, I call upon the jury to note that what is happening in Palestine, the unfolding ethnic cleansing and genocide, is totally intertwined with the forms of exploitation and the toxification of our social milieu in the rest of the world. In this sense, yes, our freedom in the rest of the world is utterly intertwined with the liberation of Palestinians from colonialism, expropriation, fear and manipulation. To conclude, I would like to thank the jury for its important work and to implore its members to pay attention to the manner in which capitalist dynamics, especially those underpinning the reproduction of cloud capital, are fuelling and reinforcing the Genocide of the Palestinian people.

On 23rd October, I testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. My speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. Here it is: My name is Yanis Varoufakis. I am an economist, a politician and activist representing Greece’s MeRA25 as well as the paneuropean radical movement DiEM25, and I am here in my capacity as an expert on the manner in which capitalist dynamics are fuelling and reinforcing the Genocide of the Palestinian people. Today, with a view to assisting the jury to reach an informed verdict, I shall address the economic forces underpinning the complicity of global capital in, initially, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and, more recently, their genocide. The jury should want to keep in mind that genocide pays. And, I shall be arguing later, it pays a great deal more now that a new form of capital is involved in its execution. To begin, the jury should want to acknowledge that capitalism thrives on human misery and in sheer destruction. There is, therefore, no paradox in the fact that, at a time when demand, production and consumer confidence are falling precipitously in Israel, the Israeli Stock Exchange not only did not fall since the Gaza genocide began but in fact it rose by more than 160%. This reflects the underlying Political Economy of Occupation and, in particular, the manner in which thousands of Israeli companies are intertwined with US, European and Korean mega-corporations – including the world’s weightiest financial conglomerates – comprising an international network that kicked into overdrive after October 2023. The moment the Israeli defence budget doubled, it crowded in large ‘investments’ into Israel’s killing machine. For more detailed information on this, the jury should take into account the Report to the United Nations published by Francesca Albanese, the UN’s Special Raporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories entitled ‘From Economy of Occupation to Economy of Genocide’. Of course, none of this is new. History teaches us that economic interests have been key drivers and enablers of colonial enterprises and often of the genocides they perpetrated. The corporate sector has been intrinsic to colonialism since its inception, with corporations – beginning with the Dutch and British East India Companies – historically contributing to the violence against, the exploitation, and ultimately the dispossession of Indigenous people and lands, a mode of domination known as racial colonial capitalism. Israel’s colonization of the occupied Palestinian lands could not have been an exception. The jury should be aware of the manner in which Palestine today demonstrates all three phases of colonial expropriation: First came the phase of unsophisticated expropriation – the brutal plunder of land and the conversion of indigenous people into cheap or even slave labour. That phase, which led to the rise of capitalism in the 18th Century, was evidenced in Palestine since the Balfour Declaration and, much more so, during and in the aftermath of the Nakba. Palestinian land was brutally expropriated and Palestinians either turned into refugees or encased in Bantustans which ended up, until at least the second intifada, providing cheap labour to the colonisers. The second phase of modern colonialism, also known as neoimperialism, did not so much concern the plunder of land as it was intended to secure markets for the surplus commodities of the capitalist metropoles that the capitalist metropoles could not absorb domestically due to insufficient domestic demand. This neoimperialist dimension also made its appearance in Palestine in connection to the plight of the Palestinian people as Israel began to absorb massive quantities of weaponry imported from the US, Germany and UK, thus contributing significantly to the aggregate demand in those countries. More recently still, the Israeli arms manufacturers have managed to enter this game as exporters – by exporting hi-tech weaponry tried and tested on the Palestinian population to foreign countries, including (shamefully) my own country, Greece, but Arab countries too. The third phase of contemporary capital accumulation feeding expropriation at home and colonialism abroad, is the one I refer to as the technofeudal phase – a phase underpinned by the accumulation of a new, radical form of capital which I have called cloud capital. The jury will want to note that cloud capital is a network of machines (comprising phones, tablets, servers and algorithms) which does something remarkable: we train it to train us to train it to know us well and, eventually, manipulate our behaviour and, therefore, giving the owners of this cloud capital exorbitant powers to do things to us against our will in their interest. In this context, the jury should want to take into account the fact that no country has given as much access to a population’s biometric data as Israel has given to IBM. Since the Gaza genocide began, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet and Palantir have been expanding their cloud capital penetration at a breathtaking pace. Face recognition software, target selection algorithms and automated execution systems are being tested in real time, at will, and with fewer ethical constraints than in the case of experiments on laboratory rats. America’s Big Tech could not be happier. War, ladies and gentlemen, was always lucrative. Arms dealers made fortunes from supplying weapons to the highest bidder. Indirectly, all sorts of capital – including capital that produced consumer goods – accumulated faster at times of war and destruction. But, in this technofeudal age, cloud capital accumulates new powers in the battlefields directly by improving its algorithms’ capacity to understand and to manipulate humans. Nothing helps cloud capital improve its efficiency than the real time experience of monitoring and manipulating the behaviour of combatants, of target-selectors, of the politicians that enable these target-selectors and, yes, tragically, of the population targeted for annihilation. The jury should, therefore, be aware of the fact that today’s AI-targeting devices that maximise death and destruction in Gaza will tomorrow morning power up the Amazon or Google or Microsoft algorithms which make us buy stuff we neither need nor want; which poison our conversations in our social media; that drive increasingly dispossessed proletarians, drivers, nurses and warehouse workers. In other words, I call upon the jury to note that what is happening in Palestine, the unfolding ethnic cleansing and genocide, is totally intertwined with the forms of exploitation and the toxification of our social milieu in the rest of the world. In this sense, yes, our freedom in the rest of the world is utterly intertwined with the liberation of Palestinians from colonialism, expropriation, fear and manipulation. I would like to wish all my compatriots a happy Independence Day, happy Independence Zimbabwe. The independence of our country, unlike many other African countries, came through blood that was shed. There are so many Zimbabweans who lie in unmarked graves from Tanzania to Zambia to Botswana to Mozambique, and they put their lives on the line so that you and I could have the independence that we did not have under colonial rule. There is a distinct difference between those who fought for the independence of our country and died, never seeing an independent Zimbabwe, and those who took over from colonial rule and then destroyed our country through incompetence, corruption, and many other afflictions that should never have been there. I am in no doubt at all that had our country not become independent, I and many Black citizens would probably not be where we are today, thanks to the early gains of independence. Sadly, I now find myself as a journalist and a Zimbabwean with NO freedom to speak, to write, and to exist as a full citizen in my country post independence after the derailment of the independence dream. Many of our people did not have the opportunities that I personally got, and many others got, to advance our lives. It is unfortunate that we find ourselves where we are today, not because independence is bad, but because we ended up with selfish, corrupt, and incompetent individuals who abandoned the principles and aspirations that inspired many Zimbabweans to go out there and fight so that their country could be free. So on this day, when we celebrate 46 years of independence, the same zeal and drive that defined those who died fighting for our country must be carried forward by those who are alive today, to make sure that the country is restored to where it is supposed to be. Zimbabwe is one of the richest countries under the sun. It has almost every mineral that you can think of, and it has some of the best soils in the world. There is no reason for any Zimbabwean to be unemployed, to fail to earn an income, or to go to bed on an empty stomach. There is absolutely no reason for any Zimbabwean to struggle if the country is led by people who know what they are doing and who put the country first, the national interest first, ahead of their own selfish needs. Whilst colonialism was a terrible stain on the history of our country, there are lessons that can be drawn from that period. Rhodesia was run like a business, not like a fiefdom. The fact that most of the central hospitals that exist today were built during the colonial period, with the exception of Chitungwiza, tells us that infrastructure was prioritised, even if it was designed to serve a minority. That reality does not excuse colonial injustice, but it exposes the scale of failure after independence. Forty-six years later, the government has built only one central hospital. Around 2,500 women die every year during childbirth due to a lack of adequate maternity facilities. The largest hospital in Zimbabwe still relies on a maternity theatre built in 1977, and even then only one of its two theatres is functional, with the working one having been refurbished by a South African bank. That is a damning indictment on the current leadership. The fact that millions of Zimbabweans have been forced to leave the country to take up menial jobs in South Africa, as waiters or farm workers, is an indictment on the current leadership. The fact that people like myself and many others have had to leave home out of fear for our lives is an indictment on the current leadership. Whilst the leadership has failed, we as citizens of Zimbabwe also carry a responsibility towards our country, in whatever space we occupy. We must stop following personalities and start following ideas, whether in the ruling party or in the opposition. Our country has been destroyed because we follow personalities, many of whom are vacuous and empty, and when they fail, they drag the nation down with them as our leaders have done. We must not wait for a Messiah to come and save us from the afflictions we face today. We have a responsibility to do what is right for our country. During the liberation struggle, leaders were changed at different points because the struggle was never about personalities, it was about an idea, an independent Zimbabwe where every Zimbabwean, black, white, green, or yellow, has the same rights and opportunities to pursue a better life. So as we celebrate, and we should celebrate, we must also reflect on our responsibilities going forward. We celebrate because independence itself was a noble idea and remains a noble idea. When things are bad, you do not burn down the house, you fix what is broken. We must honour and remember those who lost their lives so that people like myself could go to college, become journalists, and be recognised internationally, as many Zimbabwean professionals have been, some even advising presidents across the continent and beyond. Zimbabwe has some of the most accomplished people anywhere in the world, and it should not be where it is today. It is therefore up to us, as Zimbabweans, to make sure that we do what is right for our country. Once again, happy Independence to my compatriots, and thank you to all the stalwarts who laid down their lives for us to be independent and to the countries that supported our struggle. We could not have achieved independence in 1980 without Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania, Botswana, and many others who stood with us. They did well for us and we thank them. It is those who destroyed the country who should hang their heads in shame today. My heart bleeds when I see so many young Zimbabweans with university degrees, yet ending up as victims of drug abuse because there is no work to go to. There are no opportunities available that are aligned with what they went to university to study. It is a tragic indictment of the situation we find ourselves in today. Today we have become a nation where boreholes are being drilled in the middle of cities because the rulers have failed to do something as basic as delivering water into people’s homes. Today we have become a nation where the rest of the region laughs at us because our roads are riddled with potholes, yet the leadership drives Ferraris on those same roads. Today we have become a nation where even our O-level pass rate has not gone beyond 34% because of the failure of leadership to do what needs to be done. Today we cannot even feed ourselves. We have to rely on food aid, and yet we were once colloquially referred to as the breadbasket of the region. These are some of the realities we should reflect on. I could go on and on, but at this point, it is not necessary. To our leaders, I say, how does it feel when you hear the very people you lead saying Ian Smith was better, when they say colonialism was better? How do you feel? Or do you even feel anything at all when those words are spoken? Of course, colonialism was brutal. Of course, Ian Smith was a racist leader who upheld a minority regime built on exclusion and oppression. But it is a damning indictment of your failed leadership that some of our own people now feel pushed to the point of romanticising that dark past. Independence was meant to usher in dignity, opportunity, and shared prosperity for every Zimbabwean, regardless of colour or creed. It was meant to restore ownership of our future to the people. Yet today, you cannot deny that a small, privileged few are the primary beneficiaries of that independence, while the overwhelming majority are trapped in poverty, penury, and relentless suffering. That is not what liberation was fought for. However, nothing can justify a failure to be grateful to those who fought and died for the independence of our country. They did their part. It is now up to us to do our part and ensure that our country becomes what it is meant to be. Happy Independence Zimbabwe.

My name is King NGABO, born and raised in the land of a thousand hills, in the heart of Africa. A land of brave ancestors. A land that once kissed the darkness, but has now embraced the sun again. 31 years ago, Tragedy knocked on every door , from north to south, east to west. More than one million Tutsis were killed not because of what they did, but simply because of who they were. The 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi took away our families, leaving behind an endless pain and suffering we carry every day. But let me be clear: Genocide is a part of our history, not our culture. We have refused to be defined by it , even if it left a scar not only on us, but on the whole of humanity. Because when it was happening, The world was watching. The United Nations let our families down. Belgian soldiers evacuated their dogs alongside their citizens and left millions of people in the hands of militias. I had the great honor of representing my homeland, Rwanda, and sharing the contribution of my work as an artist and cultural practitioner through Museum Ingabo at the Central Academy of Cultural and Tourism Administration in Beijing. During my presentation, I proudly introduced Rwanda as the Land of Brave People, I also featured two powerful videos from Visit Rwanda to showcase the breathtaking beauty and vibrancy of our country. MY SPEECH BEFORE PRESENTATION: “Ladies and Gentlemen, Members of the Central Academy of Cultural and Tourism Administration, AMAHORO. My name is King NGABO, born and raised in the land of a thousand hills, in the heart of Africa. A land of brave ancestors. A land that once kissed the darkness, but has now embraced the sun again. 31 years ago, Tragedy knocked on every door , from north to south, east to west. More than one million Tutsis were killed not because of what they did, but simply because of who they were. The 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi took away our families, leaving behind an endless pain and suffering we carry every day. But let me be clear: Genocide is a part of our history, not our culture. We have refused to be defined by it , even if it left a scar not only on us, but on the whole of humanity. Because when it was happening, The world was watching. The United Nations let our families down. Belgian soldiers evacuated their dogs alongside their citizens and left millions of people in the hands of militias. The media assault over the last two days has had me thinking a lot about Umukandida Wacu, President Kagame. One moment stands out: April 7th, the first time I heard him speak publicly about his personal loss during the Genocide against the Tutsi. "At that time, I had a very strong heart, but it weakened a bit," he said as he recounted the torture and murder of his cousin and nieces. As he stood before us, visibly emotional, to me he was not just a Statesman; he was a man who, like many other Rwandans, has known immense loss, grief, and helplessness rendered by our history. For 30 years, he has shouldered the burdens of restoring security, dignity, and harmony in a traumatized nation. None of what it has taken to rebuild this country has been ‘easy.’ The President sharing his personal testimony meant more to me than any dev’t statistics or platitudes; it signaled to me that finally, the burdens on him have lessened. Our country’s basic needs—peace, security, and development—are so on track that our President is finally able to do publically what he enabled so many other Rwandans to do: process, share, heal. Our leader is steady, our country is steady, and our young people are smart, suave, and ambitious. We are also acutely aware of how much remains to be accomplished. One thing is certain: there’s a future here, something that Africa and the world can tap into. For Bosnia and Herzegovina, last night’s victory hits different. It wasn't just a ticket to the World Cup. It's a quiet, fierce reclamation of everything they once tried to take away: our identity, our right to exist as a people and a country, our very lives and land. We still live our history. In the 1992–1995 war, Bosnians faced a systematic campaign of destruction. Over 100,000 people were killed. Entire towns and villages were cleansed. The siege of Sarajevo, the capital, lasted 1,425 days, the longest in modern history, with civilians shelled daily while the world watched. And then Srebrenica: in July 1995, more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were slaughtered in genocide. It wasn’t random violence. It was calculated to break our spirit and remove any trace of a sovereign, multi-ethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina. They wanted no Bosnia. Some voices even today deny the genocide or question whether this country should exist at all. That’s why, when the national team wins, it feels like our country exhales a breath it’s been holding for thirty years. The players on the pitch aren’t just athletes; they’re sons of survivors, children of refugees, men who carry the stories of parents who buried loved ones or rebuilt homes from rubble. When the stadium erupts with “Bosna! Bosna!”, it’s not only celebration. It’s defiance. It’s proof that we refused to disappear. Last night’s win, whatever the score, whatever the opponent, became one more chapter in that story of survival. Ten years after the majestic, globally significant, yet betrayed NO Referendum of the Greek people – a personal message: On 5th of July 2015 the Greek people voted overwhelmingly in a referendum to say a big, beautiful NO to the Big Business and Big Finance who, through their centre right and centre left political representatives, were demanding of the Greek people that they shoulder the costs of the banking crisis which Big Business and Big Finance had caused, with the result that hundreds of millions of people in Europe and America were crushed under mountain ranges of banking losses which governments then turned into public debt, before shifting it to the shoulders of the weakest of citizens through universal austerity – the working classes, the poor, the elderly, the young, the women, people who lacked the power to defend themselves from the powerful plucking the very moneytree whose existence they denied. Churchill once said of the battle of El Alamein that, before it, the Allies had never won but that, after it, they never lost again. I could say something similar about that splendid and, at once, tragic day, of the Greek NO Referendum ten years ago today – the day when 62% of Greek voters ignored the financial terrorism of the European Central Bank (which had shut down the Greek banks to blackmail voters to accept the terms of surrender they were dictating to the Greek people). That same day when my former comrade, the PM I was serving as finance minister on behalf of the Greeks who were resisting, trashed their verdict and defected to the Big Finance and the Big Business in the name of the left. Before that day, before the magnificent NO Referendum outcome of 5th July 2015, and during the months and years leading to it, we could not imagine losing in the long run our fights against the Big Finance and the Big Business that blew up our social economies in 2008. But after it, since the PM I was serving under overturned our people and betrayed their referendum verdict, we cannot imagine winning ever again, at least not in our lifetimes, against the Big Finance and the Big Business whom the betrayal of the NO Referendum helped recover. It was THAT significant a day. It was THAT significant a defection. Now, I know it is not the done thing to sully the spirit of one’s fellow travellers, one’s comrades, to say things like that - to surrender in public to the admission not only of the size of our defeat but also of the possibility that we may not win again for the foreseeable future. Alas, now is the time for honesty – for without honesty amongst rebels no rebellion worth its salt can be staged. Indulge me friends, fellow travellers, comrades. My point is not to bring you down. My point is to acknowledge where we are not just in Greece, in Germany, in Britain, in Europe but globally. To take stock properly of our situation globally not to mourn nor for some perverted sense of inverted glory, certainly not for gain, but for the simple, stubborn hope of rising again. Somewhere to the North of where I am talking you from, the killing fields of Ukraine are devouring lives with a ruthless, mechanical precision. Where is the Peace Movement to stop this? Nowhere really. Instead Europe is sinking fast into Military Keynesianism, with large majorities in our parliaments voting for unspeakable amounts of new debt to go to weapons of mass destruction we neither need nor can afford – and certainly weapons that people with the slightest of sense left in their hearts and minds should not want. Meanwhile, needless to say, from my southeast, from the scorched land of Palestine, the acrid stench of genocide drifts on the wind. Yes, we have staged magnificent marches on our streets. Yes, our people have marched to Gaza, other comrades risked life and limb to sail to that coastal war crime scene. Yes we have made it possible to speak of the genocide without being treated as buffoons. Yes, we have shifted public opinion. But, nothing is changing on the ground where Palestinian life is eradicated at a steady, at an unbearable rate, or in the corridors of power. Where are the sanctions on Israel? Where is the UN Peacekeeping force that should have been parachuted in to stop the genocide in its tracks? Nowhere. The only people that are hounded are people like the UN’s Special Rapporteur, my friend Francesca Albanese, for daring to report on the political economy of genocide. Why has Brazil, Spain or Ireland, countries whose governments have been supportive of the Palestinians not joined the Hague Group that our Progressive International has brought together to isolate Israel? What are they waiting for? Friends, fellow-travellers, comrades, at the risk of saddening, maybe even angering you, I shall say it again: Since that NO referendum was overturned ten years ago, today, by the left’s own leadership, we are losing at every front. Who is winning? Not the liberal authoritarian establishment – Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Friedrich Merz. No the pro-genocide radical centre they sensationally unpopular. Even if they are clinging onto power for the time being, they are thoroughly discredited, despised even. No, the winners nest elsewhere in even uglier echelons of the political spectrum. Have you not smelled its smell? Can’t you smell the fascism in the air? Can’t you feel its sour, metallic taste clinging to the back of your throat? What happened to our great hopes? Remember Woman-Life-Freedom? The whispered three-word promise Kurdish heroines carried like a fragile beacon in their hands, a promise that until recently seemed to shimmer just within reach? Well, take a look at the triumphant Donald Trump on the one hand – yes, he is winning on every front – and the pathetic Kamala Harris, or the even more pathetic Hillary Clinton, on the other. Between them, willingly in Trump’s case, they created the manosphere’s unyielding juggernaut, which trampled upon Woman-Life-Freedom, as if these precious little words, had never been spoken at all. Authoritarianism, that most insidious of plagues, has crept into every sinew of life. Along with the smell of pollution in the air, microplastics in our oceans, the insidious power of cloud capital hardwired into our brains, delivering our minds to the whims of our new techlords – this New Global Ecocidal Hyper-Exploitative Ruling Class is entrenching itself as the new order, its cold grip tightening with each passing day. I don’t know about you but, speaking personally, on this, the 10th anniversary of our Great Victory which was turned overnight into the Great Betrayal, it is ever so easy to surrender to the feeling, the sensation, that my political struggles, fuelled by a fierce and unyielding hope, are taking me from one defeat to the next, making me feel like a character in some twisted simulation, doomed to repeat the same futile actions over and over. BUT, I shall not surrender. And nor will you! Acknowledging our defeats, the overwhelming strength of the monsters in power, and the magnitude of the task, needs to be done so that we ground our disobedience, our activism, our sacred campaigns for Humanity and for Nature, on solid ground. So that we learn from the past, from what happened to the brave Greek people 10 years ago to this day, focussing with laser sharp precision not only on the economics and the politics of what needs to be done but, much more so, on the greatest solvent, the ugliest enemy, of solidarity: The tendency of our own side, our own comrades, to be lured by power into defecting to the other side – to the oligarchs who are ever so eager to co-opt us, to co-opt our leading figures especially. So, on behalf of DiEM25, today, the 5th of July 2025, exactly 10 years after the Greek people’s majestic, betrayed, but inspiringly courageous NO – that ethereal revolutionary little word – a word redolent of the only Freedom that matters, the freedom to turn down exploitative, extractive deals. On this day, I bid you farewell. Battle well, and let us all, grounded on facts, work joyously to devise acts that make the fascists, the radical centre, the genocide practitioners and the purveyors of all types of exploitation lose their sleep at night so that the many can dream again.

Loneliness On The Path & Transcending The Matrix Many of us can relate to the sense and experience of feeling alone as we shed the matrix-cultural social programming and sincerely start to seek truth. As we embark on the path, we start to learn, often remember, realize, and begin to see a deeper reality within and without us. This new sight is contrary to what the masses believe in and how they live their lives. It is also opposed to whatever we found to be true at first. But there was a splinter in the mind - a seed deep within that inspired us to question what we've been told and taught most often after a period of intense suffering responding to the yearning of the soul's call to awaken. It pushed us to answer the call and step into the unknown, and down the rabbit hole we tumble. As we progress on our path, going through our trials initiations and process of disillusionment, truth starts to become stranger than fiction. We can no longer relate to pleasures, social interactions, and enjoyments we may have engaged in enthusiastically in the past. Goals, ambitions, and desires we once had and were very attached to start to feel completely foreign to us. We realize that most of our so-called needs and desires, wants, including group and tribal identifications, were based on lies, wounds, and matrix programs, which we mistook stemming from our true self. They do not lead us to nor reflect true fulfillment joy, and love - the pure state of our soul hidden deep within us beyond the ego personality - our unique soul embodied individuality centered in the Divine. We start to see through appearances and all the pretense - the mechanical unconscious social interactions with the unconscious feeding mechanisms between people - emotionally, energetically sexually - where almost everyone is a copy of a copy sleepwalking and dreaming of being awake. We realize how little of real individuality and authenticity there is in the world, and how people mistake their conditioned and programmed ego personality for authenticity and also mistake all kinds of feelings, desires, and cravings within them for the soul being. All of which we have done in the past as well to varying degrees and still may do. We realize how little of true love there is. If we are honest with ourselves, we also question what love truly is and if we have really ever experienced it. The more we uncover within us and work through our shadow aspects, mechanical behavior, wounds, and traumas, the more we see all that in others. As the masks fall away, we start to see the unseen and a whole new world - the real world opens up. At first this view is not pleasant at all, and we may question our sanity, feelings of despair, depression, shame, guilt, anger, sadness, and loneliness come up everything that we have been hiding and have suppressed for lifetimes starts to come to the surface the darkness within and without is being made conscious as we descend into the underworld. The higher we want to rise, the deeper we need to go, The more light we possess, the more darkness we uncover. It is the esoteric law of descent and ascent at the same time. If we are sincere in our process, we start to realize thatwe cannot blame others or anything externally anymore. We are asked to take full self responsibility with radical self-honesty. The more we awaken, the more we are also confronted with the illusion of control, the ego likes to cling to. There is something else, a higher divine force that is pulling us out of inertia and sleep, asking us to surrender to it while, at the same time, the lower forces of nature want to keep us chained to our past, our wounds, programs, and identifications trapped in the victim-blame cycle. The occult adverse forces tag into our lower nature using temptations, egohooks and thought injections targeting our blind spots and wounds to keep us plugged into the matrix. Ultimately, we realize that the battle is and always has been through us. We then also start to see and sense the mighty occult hyperdimensional forces beyond our five sensory cognition that manipulate not only us but all people like puppets with strings attached. We realize that there is something else hidden from the mind of ordinary consciousness that controls and manipulates human beings from occult realms - something that feeds on humanity and keeps us in a frequency prison of fear and survival-based egoic service to self-consciousness. We also start to see the wounds and traumas people carry masked and armored under a thick social mask disconnected from their bodies. In fact, we begin to see how most people suffer deep inside but don't know that they are suffering for all the attention and energy is used to escape it by dissociation and then externalizing or suppressing their pain to avoid the discomfort of feeling it within. Like unconscious drug addicts, most people are constantly looking for a fix, trying to fill a bottomless hole in, always looking for love, fulfillment, and happiness externally- just like we have done in our unconscious sleeping state, dreaming of being awake. We then start to encounter humans who don't seem to have a soul but are empty shells occupied by something else. The eyes always give it away - all of which becomes more obvious as we cleanse our perception by internal work. We don't get fooled by appearances anymore. We begin to see via inner vision and our guidance comes more and more from within, not influenced by the group hive mind or the conditioned mind with all its fragmented thought loops. We let go of comparison, ambition and competition and surrender to our soul's calling to unite with the Divine. However, not only do we experience isolation and loneliness pulling back more and more from exterior life we also become subject to the projections and attacks of people still wandering in the wilderness of the collective matrix program. We realize that longtime friends and even family members or our spouse and partner are not at all who we thought they were - that these connections were often based on the illusion of love, trauma bonds, and social programming. We realize how we mistook love for all kinds of behaviors, feelings, and things that are not love but were based on wounds and unconscious feeding mechanisms. When we tell others about our discoveries and realizations we are most often met with ridicule made fun of or even attacked and shamed. We are being told that we are negative, crazy and live in fear or engage in fear-mongering-when, in fact, this reaction is their unconscious fear of the truth projected onto us. It is their false mechanical ego personality trying to protect itself from disillusionment with occult forces, working through them, using them as unconscious matrix agents and attempting to keep us from awakening, speaking truth, and anchoring the divine force. Hence, we also realize that we cannot possibly take anything personally anymore because it is not them doing anything. Moreover, we also recognize that these attacks and interferences serve a teaching function in the bigger picture of the evolution of consciousness and in the process of our unique soul evolution for all there is are lessons. These realizations and confronting the lies we've been telling ourselves do indeed lead to disillusionment - a moral bankruptcy. It's the necessary death everyone has to go through to be reborn in the true self. It is the way out of the matrix. Yet this loneliness we experience and the inability to fit in anywhere has its purpose, including the suffering we experience. If we keep on the track with faith and trust, learning our lessons with sincerity, patience, humility, and courage, it will lead us to true love, real companionship, and a conscious connection with Spirit as we find our way back home, reuniting with the Divine. We start to experience magical positive synchronicities and there is help and support of the divine force that responds to our call and supports and guides us in unexpected ways. But we can only perceive this guidance if we get out of the tunnel vision of ego identification and out of our heads. Doors open where there have been no doors before. Out of the dark, we emerge into the light, and we realize and experience on an embodied level—not merely philosophically or intellectually—that we were never alone but under a spell of separation from all that is, as we experience and perceive the Divine in all. Loneliness On The Path & Transcending The Matrix Many of us can relate to the sense and experience of feeling alone as we shed the matrix-cultural social programming and sincerely start to seek truth. As we embark on the path, we start to learn, often remember, realize, and begin to see a deeper reality within and without us. This new sight is contrary to what the masses believe in and how they live their lives. It is also opposed to whatever we found to be true at first. But there was a splinter in the mind - a seed deep within that inspired us to question what we've been told and taught most often after a period of intense suffering responding to the yearning of the soul's call to awaken. It pushed us to answer the call and step into the unknown, and down the rabbit hole we tumble. As we progress on our path, going through our trials initiations and process of disillusionment, truth starts to become stranger than fiction. We can no longer relate to pleasures, social interactions, and enjoyments we may have engaged in enthusiastically in the past. Goals, ambitions, and desires we once had and were very attached to start to feel completely foreign to us. We realize that most of our so-called needs and desires, wants, including group and tribal identifications, were based on lies, wounds, and matrix programs, which we mistook stemming from our true self. They do not lead us to nor reflect true fulfillment joy, and love - the pure state of our soul hidden deep within us beyond the ego personality - our unique soul embodied individuality centered in the Divine. We start to see through appearances and all the pretense - the mechanical unconscious social interactions with the unconscious feeding mechanisms between people - emotionally, energetically sexually - where almost everyone is a copy of a copy sleepwalking and dreaming of being awake. We realize how little of real individuality and authenticity there is in the world, and how people mistake their conditioned and programmed ego personality for authenticity and also mistake all kinds of feelings, desires, and cravings within them for the soul being. All of which we have done in the past as well to varying degrees and still may do. We realize how little of true love there is. If we are honest with ourselves, we also question what love truly is and if we have really ever experienced it. The more we uncover within us and work through our shadow aspects, mechanical behavior, wounds, and traumas, the more we see all that in others. As the masks fall away, we start to see the unseen and a whole new world - the real world opens up. 𝗜𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, the region once known as the "Greenbelt," people are now dying of hunger. The land is being divided, and the Baloch are forced to beg just to survive. We see the malnutrition and mothers dying during childbirth. In 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗻, the sea is on one side and the border on the other. Both sources of livelihood have been confiscated by the state. While the Baloch struggle to survive. People are being displaced from their homes, and the land is being handed over to others like charity. To resist this, the Baloch are being killed or disappearing. 𝗜𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮, Baloch culture and values are being eroded. Many are being pushed into a state of unaware slavery. 𝗜𝗻 𝗝𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻, death squads operate freely. Women and children are being disappeared and harassed leaving families in a perpetual search with no answers. In these areas, drugs have become more accessible than food. Checkpoints across our land are complicit in these genocidal acts, even facilitating the movement of drugs destroying our youth. Overall, Balochistan has been turned into a "death well" defined by oppression, road accidents, cancer, extrajudicial killings, harassment, and enforced disappearances. There is a total collapse of health and education. The state calls this "security". What state destroys an entire nation to secure itself? This is not security; it is Genocide. For this reason, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee marks January 25th as #𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗗𝗮𝘆. We remember the mass graves of Tootak; to this day, we do not know who they were, but we know they were Baloch, and their mothers are still sitting on the roads searching for them. Last year, we spoke to the world about the Baloch Genocide in Dalbandin. Today, the circumstances are even more dire. The state is using all its power to crush every voice that rises by killing, imprisoning, and disappearing. But being silent isn't an option. Rever, who has spent nearly 30 years documenting war crimes in the Great Lakes region, delivered an unflinching indictment of Kagame’s violent legacy, one she claims has been deliberately buried by world powers, global corporations, and the media. I'm here today to tell you about one of the biggest lies of modern times, and about someone who's been posing as a hero for a very long time, someone who's everywhere in plain sight from Davos to the Olympics, when in reality he's been taking you for a ride. That person is Rwanda's dictator, Paul Kagame. In 1996, as a young Canadian journalist, I landed a dream job in Paris covering the African continent. At the time, I was hungry for life experience and eager to learn. It turned out that Africa was the best teacher. Almost immediately into that job, I was drawn into covering the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. Paul Kagame, who had been hailed a hero for supposedly stopping the genocide against Tutsis committed by Hutus, was now launching a military invasion of Congo. Ostensibly, his objective was to root out Hutu genocidaires who were living in the refugee camps inside Congo's border. But for those of us who were paying attention, we realised the Paul Kagame's Tutsi troops were systematically massacring Hutu refugees in Congo. In May and June of 1997, I went to Congo, a country the size of Western Europe. With the help of Congolese aid workers, I went into the forest and what I saw was devastating. Hundreds of thousands of Hutu civilians had been chased across the country and hunted down like animals by Paul Kagame's Tutsi forces. I met wounded, traumatised and starving women in the forest. I saw catatonic children emaciated and covered in scabies. The testimony that I collected from the forest of Congo and the pictures I took of mass graves convinced me the Paul Kagame's forces had committed a genocide against Congolese and Rwandan Hutus in 1996 and 97. The United Nations would later classify these crimes as a possible genocide. After Congo, I crossed over on foot into Rwanda and interviewed more Hutu survivors who had just come home. I essentially asked them two questions, the same questions I had asked Rwandans in Congo. Why did you flee Rwanda in the first place in 1994 and decide to stay in Congolese refugee camps, enduring brutal conditions instead of going home, where Paul Kagame had reportedly stopped the genocide in 1994, stopped the violence, and was restoring peace and prosperity to Rwanda? These Hutu survivors told me one after the other that in fact, Paul Kagame's Tutsi army had slaughtered Hutus during the genocide. Their relatives had been massacred. They were afraid of Kagame's army. They also told me that many Hutus who returned from Congo to Rwanda were disappearing. This was astounding to me. Remember, these were early days. I'd never heard these stories before, but I knew that I had to keep researching this story. These interviews were very dangerous to do inside Rwanda. But I realised that the official genocide narrative of one category of perpetrator, one category of victim, was a sham and Kagame was no saviour. I have since spent almost 30 years of my life investigating the crimes that Kagame's forces committed before, during, and after the genocide. I've interviewed hundreds of victims, witnesses, defectors from Kagame's own army, UN officials, and whistleblowers. And one of those whistleblowers leaked to me a confidential UN document which revealed that Kagame's Tutsi commandos actually slaughtered Tutsis during the genocide. These were false flags, staged operations. This evidence, and other types of evidence like this, completely disrupted the established doctrine of the Rwandan genocide. My research reveals that both Hutus and Tutsis were victims of genocide in 1994, and both groups were perpetrators. What's more, powerful insiders at the United Nations knew about these massive atrocities committed by Kagame's army and covered them up for years. I've asked myself, why is it that Kagame's record has been sanitised? Why has he gotten away with committing crimes over 3 decades, egregious crimes? And why has the United Nations granted him de facto immunity? The answer, I believe, lies in Congo, a country that is rich in strategic minerals that are essential for our global economy. Chances are that the cell phone you're using or the Tesla you're driving is made from Congolese minerals that have been laundered by Rwanda. One of the most trafficked and strategic minerals on the market today is tantalum. Tantalum metal is valuable because it can be extremely resistant to high temperatures. Tantalum components are able to store a tremendous amount of energy charge in a small space. Tantalum is used in rockets, satellites, missiles, smart cars, and smart cities. Canada and Australia have reserves of tantalum, but their tantalum is very expensive and they're not producing much of it. Brazil is an exporter and a producer of tantalum, but not in the quantities needed for the global economy. Congo has the richest grade of tantalum. It has the cheapest tantalum; it's the biggest producer. And Congo is Kagame's playground. Kagame and his international mafia launder vast quantities of tantalum, tungsten, tin, and gold from Congo into Rwanda, onto Rwanda's Switzerland-like paved roads, and into the lucrative global supply chain. And when I examined this global supply chain in detail, I discovered that all the major suppliers to big tech and weapons companies source their tantalum in Rwanda. So what's happening is that Paul Kagame is ensuring a cheap, steady supply of strategic minerals that are needed for the global economy. And our thirst for technology is ensuring his criminal longevity. If there's one thing you take away from my talk today, it's that the technology that we're using is tied to Kagame's violence, and the laundered minerals themselves constitute criminal property. Anyone who acquires, possesses, uses or profits from that criminal property is laundering. So, we as consumers, when we purchase devices that contain that criminal property, we are engaging in laundering as well, whether we know it or not. Kagame is currently tightening his grip on Congo. His latest invasion is illegal and a violation of Congolese sovereignty. But unlike Russia's invasion of Ukraine, where the world rallied to condemn Vladimir Putin and sanction him, Kagame has gotten off scot-free, and he is still a rock star and treated so by global elites. We've seen football teams such as Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain continue to sign sponsorship deals with Rwanda. We've seen international sporting bodies such as FIFA and the NBA continue to do business with him. Imagine how Kagame's victims feel. I refuse to be part of this global criminal project. Lobbyists and governments can prop up his regime. Businesses can live the lie because they profit from it. The media can amplify his propaganda. And Kagame can impose his lies on people he controls. But he cannot control me. Paul Kagame, I know who you are, and I know what you've done. In fact, Paul Kagame's regime's crimes and his agents' campaign against me have actually emboldened me to continue this work. More than a decade ago, his agents threatened me and threatened my family. I kept going anyhow because the fear of dying galvanised me into finishing what I had started. In 2018, after my book was launched, I was a victim of smears. I was blacklisted, essentially, and labelled a genocide denier. Remember, I acknowledge that two genocides occurred in Rwanda, one against Tutsis and one against Hutus. I have not buried history with the Rwandan's help, I have unearthed it. Hutus in general, even Hutu children, are branded irredeemable perpetrators. Tutsi genocide survivors are persecuted and, at times, are killed. Kizito Mihigo was a beloved Tutsi genocide survivor and gospel singer who preached reconciliation and denounced crimes by Kagame's regime against Hutus and Tutsis. He was arrested and later found dead in custody. Aimable Kalasira, Yvone Idamange and Deo Mushayidi, all Tutsi genocide survivors who have denounced human rights violations in a country led by Paul Kagame. They have been arrested. They are languishing in jail and effectively silenced. We must break the silence. If you believe that all victims matter. If you believe in the truth, demand accountability. Demand that Paul Kagame once and for all be tried for the crimes he's committed over 3 decades. Demand he be tried in an international court. Demand that corporations stop buying strategic minerals from Rwanda where they are soaked in the blood of Congolese people. I am tied to Paul Kagame. He has made me who I am today. I'm here today to tell you about one of the biggest lies of modern times, and about someone who's been posing as a hero for a very long time, someone who's everywhere in plain sight from Davos to the Olympics, when in reality he's been taking you for a ride. That person is Rwanda's dictator, Paul Kagame. In 1996, as a young Canadian journalist, I landed a dream job in Paris covering the African continent. At the time, I was hungry for life experience and eager to learn. It turned out that Africa was the best teacher. Almost immediately into that job, I was drawn into covering the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. Paul Kagame, who had been hailed a hero for supposedly stopping the genocide against Tutsis committed by Hutus, was now launching a military invasion of Congo. Ostensibly, his objective was to root out Hutu genocidaires who were living in the refugee camps inside Congo's border. But for those of us who were paying attention, we realised the Paul Kagame's Tutsi troops were systematically massacring Hutu refugees in Congo. In May and June of 1997, I went to Congo, a country the size of Western Europe. With the help of Congolese aid workers, I went into the forest and what I saw was devastating. Hundreds of thousands of Hutu civilians had been chased across the country and hunted down like animals by Paul Kagame's Tutsi forces. I met wounded, traumatised and starving women in the forest. I saw catatonic children emaciated and covered in scabies. The testimony that I collected from the forest of Congo and the pictures I took of mass graves convinced me the Paul Kagame's forces had committed a genocide against Congolese and Rwandan Hutus in 1996 and 97. The United Nations would later classify these crimes as a possible genocide. After Congo, I crossed over on foot into Rwanda and interviewed more Hutu survivors who had just come home. I essentially asked them two questions, the same questions I had asked Rwandans in Congo. Why did you flee Rwanda in the first place in 1994 and decide to stay in Congolese refugee camps, enduring brutal conditions instead of going home, where Paul Kagame had reportedly stopped the genocide in 1994, stopped the violence, and was restoring peace and prosperity to Rwanda? These Hutu survivors told me one after the other that in fact, Paul Kagame's Tutsi army had slaughtered Hutus during the genocide. Their relatives had been massacred. They were afraid of Kagame's army. They also told me that many Hutus who returned from Congo to Rwanda were disappearing. This was astounding to me. Remember, these were early days. I'd never heard these stories before, but I knew that I had to keep researching this story. These interviews were very dangerous to do inside Rwanda. But I realised that the official genocide narrative of one category of perpetrator, one category of victim, was a sham and Kagame was no saviour. I have since spent almost 30 years of my life investigating the crimes that Kagame's forces committed before, during, and after the genocide. I've interviewed hundreds of victims, witnesses, defectors from Kagame's own army, UN officials, and whistleblowers. And one of those whistleblowers leaked to me a confidential UN document which revealed that Kagame's Tutsi commandos actually slaughtered Tutsis during the genocide. These were false flags, staged operations. This evidence, and other types of evidence like this, completely disrupted the established doctrine of the Rwandan genocide. My research reveals that both Hutus and Tutsis were victims of genocide in 1994, and both groups were perpetrators. What's more, powerful insiders at the United Nations knew about these massive atrocities committed by Kagame's army and covered them up for years. I've asked myself, why is it that Kagame's record has been sanitised? Why has he gotten away with committing crimes over 3 decades, egregious crimes? ARREST THE REBELS AND TREASONABLE SUBVERSIVES! Last Tuesday I was sent a video of an angry crowd of members of the opposition violently marching through the streets of our nations capital Abuja, loudly chanting and proclaiming that the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, was nothing but "a thief" and that the inauguration of our President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is scheduled to hold on May 29th must not be allowed to proceed. As if that were not bad enough, later on the same day I was sent another video which showed the same members of the opposition protesting at the gates of Defence Headquarters in Abuja and loudly calling on the military to take over power in our country. Assuming these videos are authentic these acts are not only outrageous, subversive and dangerous but they are also acts of treason, rebellion and insurrection. We have warned about these sinister plots and plans for months and well before the presidential elections but no-one took us seriously and it was to no avail. Now the signs are obvious and ominous and it is clear that there is something evil afoot. It is heartwarming and encouraging that the DSS, as alive to their duties as ever, finally issued a statement yesterday in which they vindicated us. They confirmed the fact that there were some elements within the political class that were planning to use violence to impose an Interim National Government and went on to not only warn those that seek to implement this hidden agenda but also to assure those of us that are against it that they would take strong measures and move against them. This is vital in order for us to protect and save our democracy from those that seek to truncuate it and establish an unconstitutional form of Government in its stead. It is incumbent upon us all as democrats to speak out in support of the DSS and to help them thwart the evil plans of the unscrupulous conspirators, dangerous plotters, unpatriotic elements and fascistic forces that want to topple our Government and abort the democratic process. Those of us that are politicians and that still believe in democracy must stop being lazy, cowardly, undiscerning, insensitive and complacent in the face of this challenge. We must appreciate the fact that there is a major play going in on the background and it is not yet uhuru. We must stop pretending that we do not know what is going on and we must desist from sitting on the fence and hedging our bets. We must rise to the occasion that this challenge and very real danger and threat presents and we must defend and preserve democracy by resisting the forces of chaos, anarchy and tyranny. As a senior citizen, a former public office holder, a public figure and a major stakeholder in the Asiwaju project, I can no longer sit by idly and stomach this nonsense. It would be irresponsible and cowardly to do so. For 16 years, from 1983 till 1999, many of us fought against military rule and paid a high price in that fight. Others that came before us fought it between 1966 and 1979. They also paid a high price. During the course of all those years many suffered, many were tortured, many were exiled, many lost everything, many were destroyed, many were jailed and many were martyred. These young ones that are protesting have no idea about the inherent horrors of military rule and what it really means because they were not born when the soldiers held sway in our country and they do not know the indignities and bondage that we were subjected to as a people during the course of those years. The fact that some are openly calling for a return to those dark days gives many of us deep concern. The last thing we need in our country today is military intervention, a military coup d'etat or any other form of unconstitutional Government including an Interim National Government. It is a pleasure to be with you this evening to celebrate the memory and contribution of our first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. He was the prime architect of the modern Indian nation-state. His was a life anchored firmly in parliamentary democracy. He had a steadfast belief in planned economic growth and a profound commitment to the development of scientific temper alongside the development of scientific and technological capabilities. To him, secularism — in which he firmly believed — meant the celebration of India’s many diversities while strengthening its fundamental unity. His legacy continues to shape our everyday lives. Decades have gone by since his time, but he continues to serve as a beacon of light to millions of our countrymen and women. It is inevitable that such a monumental figure will have his life and work analysed and critiqued — and that is indeed as it should be. Although the temptation to divorce him from his times and the challenges that he had to face and to look at him, devoid of the historical context in which he functioned has become quite widespread. Yet, while we welcome ongoing analysis of his contributions, what is not acceptable is the systematic attempt being made to denigrate, distort, demean and defame him. The sole objective of this is to not only diminish him as a personality but also his universally recognised role in India's independence struggle and his early decades as a leader of an independent nation challenged by unprecedented problems, but it is also to demolish his multifaceted legacy in a crude and self-serving attempt to rewrite history. Analysis is one thing, but deliberate mischief with what he said, what he wrote and what he did is another thing and totally unacceptable. And who are the forces that have launched this project? We all know that they have worked for years and years—for decades—and finally, here they are. They belong to an ideology that had no role whatsoever in our freedom movement, that had no role whatsoever in the making of our Constitution. In fact, they even burnt it and were totally against it. It is an ideology that has consistently rejected the ideals of our founding fathers. It is an ideology with a bigoted and viciously communal outlook. Its approach to nationhood is based on stoking prejudices of all kinds. Let there be no doubt whatsoever that the project to vilify Jawaharlal Nehru ji is the main objective of the ruling establishment today. Their goal is not just to erase him; it is actually to destroy the social, political, and economic foundations on which our nation has been founded and built. The road ahead is not easy. But there is simply no option but for each one of us, individually and collectively, to stand up and confront this project. We not only owe it to the memory of Jawaharlal Nehru ji and his comrades—we owe it to ourselves, and even more to the coming generations. The unapologetic and fierce defence of the Nehruvian legacy is not an act of nostalgia. It is a commitment to restoring India's constitutional promise, to safeguarding reason in the face of propaganda, and to ensuring that our republic remains modern and forward-looking. If we succeed, it will not only honour Jawaharlal Nehru ji's memory; it will ensure that the India he envisioned remains a reality. At a time when tolerance in public life is shrinking, when dissent is painted as disloyalty, and history is reduced to partisan combat, Nehru ji's example becomes even more vital. He taught us that disagreement is not a threat but a democratic necessity—that unity does not demand uniformity; that a confident nation need not fear the truth about its past. Friends, there is some reason for hope. Last month, the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund also launched an archive which can be accessed at The archive is an easily searchable and freely downloadable digital archive—also, by the way, accessible on your smartphone. At present, it covers the hundred published volumes of his selected works, covering the period from 1903 till the day before he died. The archive will continue to expand. So, there it will be for you all to access any time you want to know something about what he said, what he wrote, or what he did. Sandeep Dixit's initiative, which has brought all of us here this evening, is another sincere attempt to take on this challenge of rescuing Nehru ji from the web of deception. And we need many, many more such initiatives across the length and breadth of our country. It is a pleasure to be with you this evening to celebrate the memory and contribution of our first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. He was the prime architect of the modern Indian nation-state. His was a life anchored firmly in parliamentary democracy. He had a steadfast belief in planned economic growth and a profound commitment to the development of scientific temper alongside the development of scientific and technological capabilities. To him, secularism — in which he firmly believed — meant the celebration of India’s many diversities while strengthening its fundamental unity. His legacy continues to shape our everyday lives. Decades have gone by since his time, but he continues to serve as a beacon of light to millions of our countrymen and women. It is inevitable that such a monumental figure will have his life and work analysed and critiqued — and that is indeed as it should be. Although the temptation to divorce him from his times and the challenges that he had to face and to look at him, devoid of the historical context in which he functioned has become quite widespread. Yet, while we welcome ongoing analysis of his contributions, what is not acceptable is the systematic attempt being made to denigrate, distort, demean and defame him. The sole objective of this is to not only diminish him as a personality but also his universally recognised role in India's independence struggle and his early decades as a leader of an independent nation challenged by unprecedented problems, but it is also to demolish his multifaceted legacy in a crude and self-serving attempt to rewrite history. Analysis is one thing, but deliberate mischief with what he said, what he wrote and what he did is another thing and totally unacceptable. And who are the forces that have launched this project? We all know that they have worked for years and years—for decades—and finally, here they are. They belong to an ideology that had no role whatsoever in our freedom movement, that had no role whatsoever in the making of our Constitution. In fact, they even burnt it and were totally against it. MUNICH PEACE RALLY. 16th February 2025 Friends, Germans, citizens from all over, sisters and brothers, We once had a dream. It was the dream of what Europe could have been: Not a single market, a single currency or a common budget. No, we dreamt of Europe as a Peace with Justice Project. That dream has gone, it evaporated in the cold hard light that woke us up. Fifteen years ago, a bankers’ crisis led to austerity for the majority across Europe and massive money printing for the few. It was the End of Justice and the beginning of Europe’s long winter, of Germany’s long winter – the winter of deindustrialisation, stagnation, of a vicious class war waged against the majority in every country. And before we knew it fascism and war were in the air - again. To stop the victims of their austerity from questioning them, the ruling class terrorise you. You heard Herr Pistorius, Germany’s defence minister, say that Putin is the new Hitler an we, peace activists, are Putin’s appeasers – his useful idiots. I ask Mr Pistorius, Mrs von der Leyen, Mr Mertz: “If you truly think that Putin is no different to Hitler, then why are you not sending allied soldiers immediately to take Moscow and drag Putin through a New Nuremberg Trial or at least force him to commit suicide in a Moscow bunker? Do you not see how cowardly it is to send weapons to Ukraine and to expect exhausted Ukrainians to take Moscow, or even the Crimea?” The truth is that our rulers do not really think Putin is the new Hitler. After all they did excellent business with him for decades. No, they are in the business of a never-ending, extremely profitable – for them – war. That’s what they want. Having failed to invest in the technologies of the future, in our social infrastructure, Europe’s ruling class is banking on guns and bombs, on drones and iron domes. And they want to spend your money on them. And if this means endless deaths in the killing fields of Ukraine, they don’t give a damn. Friends, Germans, demonstrators from all over, comrades, since we were here last year, there have been two major developments: The International Criminal Court has acknowldged the genocide of Palestinians and issued arrest warrants for the Israeli PM and his former Defence Minister. And Donald Trump has returned to the White House openly advocating the completion of the Palestinians’ genocide. Why am I talking about Palestine again here in Munich? Why this fixation with Palestine? First, because if this were 1938 and it was the morning after Kristallnacht, we would have only one duty: to defend the Jewish people from Nazi pogroms. Today we have a similar duty: to defend the Palestinian people from genocide. Butthere is also another reason: What started in Gaza does not stay in Gaza! Such brutality cannot be contained, especially when our leaders gave the supremacist settlers the green light to commit genocide with our weapons. With their flag projected on our Parliaments, the ideology of supremacism was reinforced here in Germany, in the Netherlands, in Greece, in Spain, in Italy. You can see this in the polls and I fear you will see it on election night soon. Eighty years after defeating the Nazis… Eighty years since the peoples’ representatives gathered in the United Nations to proclaim NEVER AGAIN,… it is happening AGAIN! With our governments’ blessing… By allowing international law to die in Palestine, they killed international law everywhere, including here in Germany. For international law either applies to everyone or it applies to no one. This is why we are here in Munich today. To say once more: NEVER AGAIN! ANYWHERE! To tell the fools in government · who behave as if the despicable crimes of the Holocaust can be washed clean in rivers of Palestinian blood, and · who think that the authoritarianism of Putin will be stemmed by piles of the dead bodies of more and more Ukrainians, that we are here to stop them – that we are here to seize the day, today, so that, tomorrow, we can dream a new dream of Peace with Justice.
