@smalls2672 If I ask my students “would you work on a farm? Would you collect garbage? Would you be a dishwasher, even if the pay was good?” The answer is always no. They want cushy, non-physical jobs.

As someone who went to college in Idaho, you see American farmers putting sign board for international students who want to work in their farms. Pick the apples the corns and what not, you never see the American students, heck they don’t even work custodial on campus.

Years ago, Trump Winery could not get locals to work for what amounted to @$100/day, had to import help.

I hate this talking point because it reminds me of people in history books talking about slaves doing work "white" men aren't built for. If you pay them more, they will come. It's hard labor for low wage. Americans have worker's rights that migrants don't. This is slave-adjacent.

Also, consider that this is absolutely back-breaking, life-shortening physical work. In a country that has a shitty healthcare system. I guess middle- and south-Americans take these jobs because their standard of living and wages are even lower in their respective countries.
