Made me cry I look after mum. The life things I’ve learnt being a carer for someone with dementia have been invaluable. But the hardest thing I’ve ever done especially seeing the person slowly fade away over a decade which makes it all the more heartbreaking for both of us 💜

We were sat watching tv tonight, my mum (with Alzheimer’s), my dad (her husband and carer) and me (her daughter and part time carer) and this came on. My dad and I looked at each other with a tear in our eyes. My mum, “what’s he looking for”. Thanks, such a powerful portrayal.

Remember the first time my mum said that to me ‘I want to go home’ and realising she didn’t know where we were. Before she got dx of early onset (she’s 57) . Didn’t sleep a wink that night, just lay awake desperately wishing there was a cure, or even something to buy more time.

Been there, people lost their personality, they lost their reason for being.... Until they fade into nothingness. Terrible
