Instead of tossing it, here's what she did: → Wiped macOS entirely, installed Ubuntu instead → Skipped WiFi setup, connected it straight to the router → Pulled the drivers, ran the full install → Set it up for remote access over SSH – no monitor or keyboard needed after this point → Installed Hermes Agent directly on it A machine most people would've written off as e-waste is now a fully remote-controllable AI agent box. This is the part people underestimate about old hardware: you don't need the newest Mac Mini or a $2K rig to run a real AI agent. You need Linux, SSH, and the willingness to actually try. Bookmark this. What she builds on it next is worth watching for.

Introducing cmux SSH: `cmux ssh user@remote` You can now drag images into SSH'd Claude Code sessions, and cmux will automatically upload them via scp. And when you start a dev server on the remote machine, the browser pane in cmux can reach it at localhost:3000 without port forwarding. The workspace kinda becomes the remote machine, so split panes/new tabs automatically open remote shells. Out in the latest version of cmux (0.63).

The agent was given read-only access to their codebase and database along with connected tools like Intercom, Stripe, CRM, and Fathom through CLIs. They routed Slack, email, and support requests into a task queue so the agent could pick up each task and run it in Claude Code. So when a customer asked about billing or product behavior, it could inspect how the business actually worked. Along with these tools, a coding agent was also provided. When the ops agent found a repeated task it could not do yet, the coding agent built a tool for it. That tool became permanent. Over time, this grew to 45+ internal tools. The agent also had an instruction.md where it stored the co-founder's feedback to avoid repeating its mistakes.
