We were curious what rendering Bun's rust rewrite would look like if we used our JS based diffs and trees. It worked pretty well, so we added a slider to 100x it. Still works well. 100m+ changed lines in a browser. Pierre Computer Company █

@kwuchu DiffsHub when? 👀

@kwuchu 👀

cinema

😅😅😅

Are web workers or canvas involved at all? Crazy

@grah4m Web workers heavily - no canvas though

Thx, can’t wait to check it out

This is super cool! Love seeing optimized software. What’s the initial loading time like? Seems like you guys did an awesome job virtualizing the diffs

Mount time is pretty fast, we'll be releasing a public version (probably next week) for people to play around with. Biggest latency is just waiting for github's api.

Great, I’ll keep my eye out for it 😀

Nice. Software should be like that all the time.

Impressive!

Visualizing 100 million changed lines in a browser is a flex. The Bun Rust rewrite is becoming the reference case for what LLM-assisted code migration looks like at scale.

Nice! Is the code for this available?

It's based on the new alpha for our codeview component :) – should be public release pretty soon <3

Ohh nice! Happy to test it on Fabro and report back when you're ready.

I am currently using the diff viewer in one of my projects pretty neat!

How the heck??

Something wrong with us.

HOLY

@samlambert holy moly

Add this to GitHub asap

free and opensource

@samlambert The world needs more of this

god that's cool. you guys are awesome

just getting started 🙇♂️

@samlambert What machine are you running?

web assembly?

yo update your chrome

Bun is a runtime lol has nothing to do with the rendering jesus people come on

This isn't about bun. This is about rendering the UI that is currently "too big" for GitHub to render. at 100x the size that github is failing on.

outstanding work 🫡

I just tried using Pierre diffs yesterday but there's not a web version. I'm not trying to npm install diffs to view a one line diff. (Also if you do deploy a web version, please allow line wrapping some way)

There is line wrapping

in a webview is honestly less impressive to me than doing it natively, but eyyy happy to see it lol .

Here is the link to this demo.

can i have that wallpaper
