Wednesday check ✅: BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide today carried out inspections of sanitation, pest control, road repair and maintenance outposts in Andheri and Vile Parle, while also reviewing pre-monsoon preparedness works at Irla nullah, SNDT nullah and Gazdarbandh pumping station. Officials were instructed that Irla stormwater pumping station at Juhu must function at full capacity through the monsoon to reduce flooding in vulnerable areas including Milan subway, Cooper Hospital precinct, Vile Parle station area and JVPD localities.

Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide on Thursday said BMC will file a police complaint against the contractor responsible for the drain maintenance work at Saki Naka, where a 60-year-old man died after falling into an open manhole. She said preliminary findings and CCTV footage pointed to serious lapses in mandatory safety measures at the work site. After reviewing CCTV footage, the commissioner said these precautions were absent.
