Announcing Hermes-node Hermes can now run as a standalone CLI with Node.js-compatible APIs - no C++ embedding required. Technically, hermes-node is a Node.js API compatibility layer for Hermes. It ports Node's native bindings (fs, net, http, child_process, etc.) to Node-API and reuses Node's original lib/*.js files, allowing standard Node.js programs to run on Hermes instead of V8. It vendors libuv, c-ares, llhttp, Ada, simdutf, etc to provide the same networking and I/O stack as Node, and runs as a standalone CLI binary. In this demo: - REPL with tab completion - TypeScript HTTP server using http, fs, and path - Type annotations stripped natively by the parser — no transpiler, not even a built-in one. This is still a work in progress, though surprisingly functional. More Node modules coming, source will be published soon.

We skipped our own wedding and flew to SF. LLMs are the last piece of software that application developers still can’t easily build themselves. We’re letting every developer build their own LLMs in TypeScript, not Python. It’s Next.js + Vercel, but for building LLMs. In the last 7 days, users made 80k+ calls to models they fine-tuned. 3 devtool companies are running Arkor in their production pipelines to serve task-specific models with lower latency. Even users with PhDs in ML love the convenience of handling the entire training + deployment flow in Node.js. Meet Arkor. The best TypeScript framework for fine-tuning & deploying open models.

I trained a 12M parameter LLM on my own ML framework using a Rust backend and CUDA kernels for flash attention, AdamW, and more. Wrote the full transformer architecture, and BPE tokenizer from scratch. The framework features: - Custom CUDA kernels (Flash Attention, fused LayerNorm, fused GELU) for 3x increased throughput - Automatic WebGPU fallback for non-NVIDIA devices - TypeScript API with Rust compute backend - One npm install to get started, prebuilt binaries for every platform Try out the model for yourself: Built with Reese Chong. There’s no easy way to talk to kids about October 7th, and especially my girls who lived through it and waited for Daddy Omri for most of their lives. So I wrote a book about it! Last week, with Omri by my side, we launched it at the Anu Museum of the Jewish people in Tel Aviv. Another chapter in my family’s life, and the life of the Jewish people. All proceeds will go to support building resilience in children affected by the war in Israel. I hope you will check it out! Link below
