@hmcghee To use redlining as an explanation for why wealth disparity continues, you must explain why other communities (East Indian, Asians, Jewish)-- who also started in poor neighborhoods-- have on average surpassed whites in wealth.

@hmcghee The wildest thing about what McGee is teaching us here is that it WASN'T slavery that created the big wealth gap (as one might guess.) Nope. It was the systemic racism of the 20th century, when the average wealth increased a great deal...but blacks were deliberately excluded.

@hmcghee ..and this racial inequity is surprising to whom. The WPA or New Deal programs were made during the 30's. Segregation was status quo and KKK hate was within the Whitehouse.
