Weaponizing the dollar makes it unattractive. When will the U.S. learn that its reckless policies have consequences? So, if Marco Rubio is basically admitting that sanctioning Russia is futile, why insist on the same destructive path of market hegemony? It's not a very smart move, and here's why.

Rubio indirectly concedes that the negotiation process between Ukraine and russia looks “hopeless.” I hope it’s clear to everyone why it isn’t working, and why Ukrainians remain skeptical. The sides are divided by fundamental differences that Washington simply chooses to ignore. Russia demands Ukraine’s surrender. Ukraine refuses. And the U.S. keeps talking about the business deals that would come someday after. A “breakthrough” in this situation is highly unlikely. Russia will not abandon its unrealistic demands unless it is forced to. The path forward is: arm Ukraine, tighten sanctions, and seize the shadow fleet.
