Weapons will surely get an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, right? Obviously? Like there’s no way this doesn’t get at least nominated- it has to be. Weapons is a defining film of 2025 & one of the year’s best. It absolutely deserves a number of nominations, including Best Pic.

In Bruges deserves to be called a masterpiece- it’s a near perfect film but despite that, this only earned one Oscar nomination, and that was Martin McDonagh’s nomination for Best Original Screenplay. I think multiple actors should’ve been nominated & this should’ve been nominated for Best Picture. It just speaks to the fact that this film was ahead of its time.

Billy Crudup is the best part of Jay Kelly & deserves an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. I found this film to be a letdown overall but Crudup- even in limited screen time- shines brightest. He’s an actor I’ve always loved & deserves a seat at this year’s Oscars.

No Other Choice needs to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture. I love F1- it’s a great film. It’s not more deserving of a Best Picture nom than No Other Choice. If you haven’t see this film yet, I get it- it’s not showing everywhere. But find a way. This movie is that good

Weapons didn’t receive an #Oscar nomination for Best Picture and I kinda wish it would’ve. Perhaps this was more deserving over F1, but so were other films like No Other Choice or It Was Just An Accident. This was undoubtedly one of the high points of 2025 for me. Instant classic

Ben Affleck won the Oscar for Best Picture for Argo but yet…didn’t receive a nomination for Best Director. This didn’t make sense back in 2013, it doesn’t make sense now. I’m not a die-hard fan of Argo, but if you give the film Best Picture, at least nominate Ben for director.

Watched Pablo Berger & NEON's Robot Dreams last night and it's a beautiful film about relationships. One of the most human films of 2023 (and there's not a single human in it). It deserves to go further than Best Animated Feature, it needs a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

Goodfellas is the best film to never win the #Oscar for Best Picture. Citizen Kane, Fargo, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Pulp Fiction are all in the conversation, but Goodfellas not owning this award is a travesty. At least it got nominated & at least Pesci won Best Supporting.

Project Hail Mary needs to be in this conversation. For all the love & attention Dune, The Odyssey & Tom Cruise are about to get- which is deserved- Project Hail Mary is a film I refuse to move on from quickly. This deserves to contend for the Oscar for Best Picture. Unquestionably one of the year’s best films.

Mississippi Burning is a great, great way to spend a Sunday morning if you need a film to watch. This is available on demand & it features Gene Hackman & Frances McDormand in Oscar-nominated performances, as well as a great performance from Willem Dafoe. Hell, this film earned a boat-load of Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. It’s excellent and worth your time.

Eddington didn’t earn any #Oscar nominations today but I don’t think that came as a big surprise to many- at least not to me. Surprising or not, I still think this film deserved Oscar recognition & was one of the year’s best films. Not to mention Joaquin Phoenix is outstanding.

Titanic earned 14 Oscar nominations, tying the all-time record, but somehow Leonardo DiCaprio wasn’t nominated for Best Actor. It still doesn’t make sense. One of the worst snubs I can remember. DiCaprio’s been a movie star since this & his performance is iconic. One of many.

Regardless of whether Train Dreams takes home any #Oscars today, this will forever remain a high point of 2025 for me. I really connected with this movie & this story. I’m glad it got a Best Picture nomination. We need more raw films like this- one of ‘25’s best without question.

No Other Choice received zero Oscar nominations today. The word “disappointment” is an understatement to say the least. I don’t think it’s necessary to criticize The Academy too heavily today- I liked most of their decisions. But not this one. This film is Best Picture worthy.
